The J&A Softball Chronicles 5/17/26
Division C
People are telling Adam they're going back to calling Barclay Internists "The Ferndale Fury," but I really didn't get the reasoning why, other than it’s just too cool a name to waste. Somehow, Adam doesn't think the Fury, I mean the Barclays, would agree.
Whatever their name, they lost their pair and moved into last place, losses to Kramar and the Tru Family Dental Hammerheads.
The Hammerheads then suffered a one run loss to Dr. Joe Kort. Kort is solidly in second with a split, they lost to Kramar in their other game but stayed to the end losing only 12-8.
Kramar remains in first and undefeated with wins over Barclays and Kort.
At this point it’s looking like the real battle in the top Division is going to be to see who gets second, Kramar is just looking that good.
Division D
The Dirt Dawgs had a game of one battle against the 515/Pronto Metal, playing with only nine most of the game. They had a major injury with one of their players blowing out his knee rounding first in game one.
Game 1 was a back-and-forth battle with Adam’s team, Metal, who went into the last inning up by one. The Dawgs came back and scored 2 to take the lead. Metal tied it, with bases loaded, two outs, Doobie Brother Metal Man Mike MacDonald rips the walk-off Game Winner to right center.
The Dawgs' second game was “the All-Important Dogs vs. Cats game. The Dogs played ruff and dug up a win over the Wildcats.
The LaFontaine Ford Wildcats also lost their other game to the Avengers.
Metal suffered its first loss of the season losing to Avengers, with Avengers sweeping their pair.
Division E
Derek Pratley's Pink Panda Club remains in search of their first win, but they're getting better. Neither of their losses this last weekend were mercy losses, they lost to JMFW Cramalott Inn 16-9; and then narrowly lost 9-8 to Soho.
The Soho Ho-Ho's had that close win over the Panda's, and then a lopsided 17-2 loss to Juan Blancos Misfits. The Misfits had the Mercy win, then lost a 21-13 slugfest to the Bad News Beers.
The Royal Oak Elks Bad News Beers appeared to be rolling with a win over the Misfits followed by another win against Johnny Blacks Jabberwockys to sweep their doubleheader.
Tough weekend matchups for the Jabberwockys, playing both the former Liberty Teams, in addition to Beers loss they lost Orchid Theater.
Jabberwockys has not been the same team that showed up last year but is trying to play through injuries and coaching new players. Maybe after the holiday, they’ll come back stronger and rise up the leaderboard.
Orchid Theatre also swept a win over Wat Da Fox Foxes. Foxes rebounded with a win over JMFW's Cramlott Inn. Cramalott split their pair, winning their other game over the Pandas.
Bar of the Week: Pronto!
Thank you to everybody who came out to support MDSL and Metal's Sponsor Pronto! There were a lot of late arrivals, ultimately, 41 players showing for the event. A good time was had by all, and it was a lot of fun.
