🏆 CHAMPIONS! Recruits 14U Blue Take Home the Tournament Title! 🏆

What an absolutely unforgettable weekend of baseball! Our Recruits 14U Blue squad put on a clinic in grit, teamwork, and pure determination, battling through a four-game gauntlet to capture the tournament championship in dramatic, walk-off fashion!

The weekend started with a true test of character against Rochester Raptors Select. After falling behind early, the Recruits mounted a ferocious comeback effort in the fourth inning, stringing together high-pressure singles to chip away at a five-run deficit. Despite out-hitting the Raptors 10 to 8—powered by multi-hit games from Nicko Neubauer, Madden Bignell, and Asher Belcourt—the clock ran out on the rally, resulting in a narrow 9-7 loss.

Instead of letting the opening loss damper their spirits, the boys channelled it into pure fuel for their next matchup against Motor City Mayhem. The Recruits blew the game completely wide open from the first pitch, cruising to a dominant 14-2 victory.
The offense racked up an incredible 14 hits, kicked off by a Shandon Chambers triple and a Calan Tennies double in a 6-run first inning. Neubauer, Bignell, Chambers, and Tennies all logged multi-hit games, while the team terrorized the Mayhem on the base paths with 13 stolen bases. On the mound, Quentin Zhou and Richie Manzanera combined for a masterclass, holding Motor City to zero earned runs and cementing a massive bounce-back win.

Championship Sunday: Sweet Revenge and Walk-Off Magic

Sunday morning brought a highly anticipated rematch with the Rochester Raptors Select, but this time, the Recruits left absolutely no doubt who owned the diamond. Blue fired on all cylinders to secure a lopsided 12-5 win and punch their ticket to the finals.
The tone was set immediately in the top of the first when Asher Belcourt crushed a bases-clearing three-run double. Back-to-back hitters Shandon Chambers and Cameron Delia tore up the box with two hits apiece to pace an 11-hit attack. After a solid start from Neubauer, Bradyn McConnell provided clutch relief, silencing the Raptors over four strong innings to secure sweet redemption.

This set the stage for an epic, all-Recruits showdown in the Championship Game against Recruit 14U White (Chapa). It was a heavyweight bout that came exactly as advertised: tied at 1-1, tied at 2-2, and tied at 3-3.
Quentin Zhou and Caleb Hulstrom each picked up crucial early RBIs, while Calan Tennies came through big from the bottom of the order with a clutch 2-hit game. The MVP of the finale was undeniably Dylan Bittner, who threw a legendary 7-inning complete game, striking out 8 batters and putting the team on his back.

With the score knotted 3-3 in the bottom of the 7th, the pressure cooker boiled over. The Blue Recruits forced a defensive miscue, a White error allowed the winning run to cross the plate, and the dugout emptied into a wild, walk-off celebration! Final score: 4-3.

Tournament Leaders

The Ace: Dylan Bittner for a heroic 7-inning, 8-strikeout championship performance.

The Big Bats: Nico Neubauer (6 total RBIs) and Shandon Chambers (extra-base hit machine).

Huge congratulations to the players and coaches for bringing home the hardware! We'll enjoy this championship tonight, rest up, and get ready to carry this incredible momentum into our next matchup.

📅 **Next Up:** Wednesday night at Detroit Prospects Smalarz 14U!

⚾️ Sunday Tournament Recap: Revenge, Grit, and Heart!

The final day of the tournament was a test of resilience for our Recruits 14U Blue squad. Facing familiar foes and high-pressure situations, the boys showed growth on offense today.

Game 1: Avenging the Raiders
The morning started with a shot at redemption. After a tough loss to the Flushing Raiders just 24 hours prior, the Recruits walked onto the field with a different energy today, securing a hard-earned 8-4 victory.
The Raiders struck first, but the Recruits responded in the third inning when Asher Belcourt lined a clutch single, scoring two runs to help vault the Recruits into the lead. When Flushing managed to knot the score at 4-4, our boys didn't flinch. In a high-octane fifth inning, Madden Bignell electrified the dugout by stealing home, followed by a Richie Manzanera RBI single that effectively sealed the win.
Entering in relief, Nicko Neubauer was untouchable on the mound, throwing three hitless, scoreless innings and racking up four strikeouts to slam the door on the Raiders.

Game 2: A Back-and-Forth Battle
In the second matchup of the day, the Recruits faced off against the Berkley Cubs in a slugfest that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Blue jumped out to a lightning-fast start, putting up four runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a Cameron Delia RBI single and some aggressive baserunning that forced the Cubs into early mistakes.
Though the lead shifted in the third, the Recruits continued to fight. Calan Tennies was a force at the bottom of the lineup, turning in a perfect 2-for-2 performance, while Delia added another RBI to his tally. The team showed incredible discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks, but a massive surge by the Cubs in the bottom of the third proved too much to overcome, resulting in an 11-7 final.

We leave the tournament with our heads high, a split on the day, and plenty of momentum as we prepare for our next challenge.

Next Game: Saturday against Irish 14U
Let’s keep grinding, Recruits! 🔵💪

Saturday Split: Grit and Determination

It was a tale of two games for the Recruits 14U Blue squad this Saturday! After a tough start in the morning, the boys found their rhythm and ended the day with an offensive explosion.

Game 1: A Tough Battle in Flushing
Our opening matchup against the Flushing Raiders didn't go our way, as we fell 8-0. Despite the score, the boys kept competing until the final out. Calan Tennies, Caleb Hulstrom, and Asher Belcourt each notched hits, and the defense showed a flash of brilliance by turning a smooth double play. Evan Walter put in a gritty effort on the mound, battling through three innings against a hot Raiders lineup.

Game 2: The Bats Wake Up!
The Recruits didn't let the morning loss linger, bouncing back in a huge way to defeat HITZ Baseball 12-4! After falling behind early, the boys "flipped the script" in the second inning with a massive 6-run surge.

The Big Blow: Shandon Chambers cleared the bases with a clutch 3-run triple that ignited the dugout!

RBI Machines: Both Shandon Chambers and Asher Belcourt were locked in, driving in 3 runs apiece.

Shut-Down Relief: Bradyn McConnell was a force coming out of the bullpen, tossing 3.2 dominant innings with 5 strikeouts and allowing zero earned runs.

Speed on the Bags: We were back to our aggressive ways, swiping 7 bags total, led by Nicko Neubauer and Cameron Delia.

We split the day, but we finished with all the momentum! The boys are seeing the ball well and the pitching is dialed in.

Join us tomorrow as we return to the tournament to chase that championship! Let’s go, 14U Blue!

In a thrilling double-header against the Oakland Express, the boys proved their absolute grit and that they can win from the front and fight from behind, walking away with two victories.

Game 1:
The boys came out of the gate swinging in the opener, securing a commanding 10-5 win. Dylan Bittner was the story on the mound, turning in a dominant performance; he went 4 strong innings, surrendering only one run and striking out four to keep the Express bats quiet.

Offensively, the middle of the order was lethal. Asher #2 and Bradyn McConnell were a two-man wrecking crew, each driving in two runs to lead the charge. The Recruits blew the game open in the 4th inning with a bases-clearing single from Asher #2 and a scorched RBI double from McConnell. Meanwhile, the defense stayed sharp, turning two double plays to kill any chance of an Express rally.

Game 2:
If the first game was about dominance, the second was about pure heart. The Express jumped out to a staggering 8-0 lead in the very first inning, but the Recruits refused to quit. Calan Tennies stepped onto the mound in relief and became the ultimate equalizer, throwing 4.1 brilliant innings and allowing zero earned runs to give his team a fighting chance.

The patience of the lineup eventually paid off in the 5th inning. Drawing an incredible 13 walks on the game, the Recruits finally broke through with a massive 8-run explosion to flip the script. The go-ahead blow came from Dylan Bittner, whose clutch bases-loaded walk drove in two runs to seal the 11-9 comeback victory. Bradyn McConnell led the RBI count again, while Bittner caused chaos on the paths with three stolen bases.

From a clean victory in game one to erasing an 8-run deficit in game two, these boys showed they are never out of the fight. We take this momentum into next Saturday’s matchup at Flushing!

Way to battle, Blue! 🔵💪

The weather in Saginaw may have washed out our tournament plans this weekend, but you can’t keep the Recruits off the diamond! While the rain might have canceled the trip north, our coaching staff worked some magic behind the scenes to make sure the boys still get their reps in today.

We are staying local for a high-energy double-header this afternoon! The boys are set to face off against a tough Oakland Express 14U squad in a back-to-back showdown. We will be at Oakland Christian School. Game 1 starts at 3:00pm, and Game 2 begins at 5:00pm.

It was a battle of wills tonight as our Recruits squad went toe-to-toe with the Detroit Prospects. After six innings of lead changes and clutch plays, this one ended in a 6-6 draw.

The defining moment of the night, however, happened in the field. In the top of the 5th, the Prospects were threatening to break the game open when the Recruits pulled off a spectacular triple play that brought the crowd to its feet!

It started with a fly ball to right fielder Bradyn McConnell, who made the grab for out number one. McConnell then unleashed a perfect throw to catcher Asher Belcourt, who stood his ground to tag a runner charging home for out number two. Without missing a beat, Belcourt fired the ball to Shandon Chambers at second base, who applied the tag to the runner stealing second. 1, 2, 3—just like that, the inning was over

It was a night of incredible focus and teamwork. We’ll take the tie, keep the momentum from that historic defensive stand, and get ready for the next one!

The boys fought hard in a back-and-forth battle today, but ultimately fell to the Bloomfield Sting 8-3.

It was a defensive grind early on, with the boys showing plenty of heart to claw back and tie the game twice. After falling behind early, Nicko Neubauer put the team on the board in the 4th to tie it up. After the Sting took another lead, Caleb Hulstrom delivered a clutch RBI single in the 5th to tie the game again at 3-3.

On the Mound: Cameron Delia started the game with a solid inning, followed by Richie Manzanera, who put in a gritty 4.1 innings of relief work, racking up strikeouts.

Hits were tallied by Neubauer, Madden Bignell, Manzanera, Delia, and Hulstrom.

The defense remained sharp in key moments, highlighted by a smooth double play turned by the Recruit's infield!

Caleb Hulstrom led the charge on the base paths with two stolen bases.

Up Next: Tuesday Night Lights!

We’re heading home to regroup and get ready for our next game on Tuesday vs. Detroit Prospects.

Let’s bounce back and get that "W" on Tuesday! 🔵💪
