👆🏾Why did I choose that name to identify Mai Pilates Members? You are the foundation of Mai Pilates. Each and everyone of you inspire me to continue my growth as a Pilates Instructor & better help you! My goal when or teaching your 1:1 sessions or filming for the stream is to help you connect with your bodies (your roots), get stronger, and move better. When my clients are dealing with pain we work together to get to the root of the matter and grow from that. I say it all the time & I’ll say it again…I LOVE MY JOB, it is my passion. Thank you for letting me share it with you. 💚

One thing I really appreciate about teaching a Holistic based Pilates is the intention behind it. Every client I teach I do my best to match their needs and goals while still giving them autonomy. This requires open communication and a mutual trust between both of us.

It's truly fascinating how the human brain connects to the muscles. This mostly happens without having to think about it, for example reaching out to open a door or lifting our feet to walk up stairs. The amazing thing is that theres always a new opportunity to build new neural pathways that may even surprise you! For example: The foots ability to separate each individual toe...(we'll talk about the benefits later) Go ahead and try it! It may be hard at first but with a bit practice you will have a smoother connection from mind to muscle.

Comment below how easy it was for you!

Connection to the outside world is absolutely essential for me to maintain balance in my life. This doesn't always mean laying on the ground but sometimes it just feels right ya' know? One of the best ways to connect to nature is go for a walk. Breathe in the fresh air, look up to the sky and feel grateful that you're alive.

What is your favorite way to connect to nature?

Sometimes rules are made about what classifies movement as beautiful, right, or proper. How are these rules made? Based on looks?
Isn’t it better to focus on how movement makes you feel? Our bodies are made to function and feel good, not just look pretty or impress. I think we should celebrate how diverse, creative, simple, and accessible movement can be for each of us.

Okay, I'll be honest...patience with bodywork can be one of the hardest things to maintain. When your main goal is to feel better from the inside out or to minimize consistent pain it takes time more time. Why? Here are two reasons.

1. Internally your mind-body connection has to be built up and that takes time and consistency.
2. You are creating new neuromuscular patterns in your body with the goal of introducing and keeping improved movement patterns.

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to YOUR bodywork. I promise you its always worth it.
Continue being patient and consistent with yourself. I'm proud of you for putting in the work and investing in yourself.🤍

It's so interesting the bodies emotional connection to physical movement. Through my 8+ years of my clients have cried with me many times (even virtually). My first reaction is gratitude that they feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable with me. My second reaction is curiosity as to why certain times movement causes tears to flow. Here are three reasons I have learned.

1. You have the goal of getting out of pain and after you work consistently to do that...and your moment of strength without the pain happens...I mean c'mon I would cry too!

2. Emotions can be held physically in your body. During your movement session those held emotions can be released which results in crying (how special is that?!).

3. Life is fast moving and and daily stresses can make you feel like you're on autopilot . Mind body work notoriously allows you to slow down and check in with how you are actually feeling...much needed tears can start rolling.

If you are feeling emotionally clogged how about you try a Pilates session to allow yourself to be present and regain focus and intuition in your body and mind.
