The River Falls Fishing Team had a great weekend competing in the WIFA Stars & Stripes Bass Tournament! In this tournament, each boat competed as its own team, and our anglers represented River Falls well on the water.

Each boat worked to catch a six-bass stringer, and some of the River Falls boats earned strong finishes, placing 7th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 22nd overall.

There was also a Big Bass category. Two River Falls students took 6th and 7th place out of 261 total bass registered during the tournament, each catching an impressive 19-inch bass!

The River Falls Fishing Team competed in the WIFA Open Water State Championship this weekend and finished 5th place out of 30 teams!

The team completely filled our mixed bag with all 37 required fish for the tournament — an awesome accomplishment against some tough competition.

🎣 River Falls Fishing Team – Final Ice Tournament of the Season! 🧊🐟

This past Saturday the River Falls Fishing Team competed in our final ice fishing tournament of the season. The event was a mixed bag challenge where teams worked to catch 20 bluegill, 20 perch, and 20 crappie.

While our team struggled a bit to locate the crappie bite that day, we made up for it by dominating the bluegill and perch categories! Our anglers brought in some outstanding fish and earned several top honors:

🏆 Largest Bluegill
🏆 Largest Perch
🥇 1st Place – Largest Stringer of 20 Bluegill
🥇 1st Place – Largest Stringer of 20 Perch
🥉 3rd Place Overall Team Finish

It was a great way to wrap up a successful season on the ice. We’re incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication these anglers showed all winter long.

Now we’re looking ahead to open water events this spring and can’t wait to get back out there!

What a great weekend for the River Falls Fishing Team! 🎣❄️

We competed in the Perfect Pair Tournament this past weekend, where teams worked together to catch a mixed bag of 10 fish — including 2 Northern Pike, 2 Bass, 2 Perch, 2 Crappie, and 2 Bluegill.

Our team worked hard, stayed focused, and put together an impressive bag to earn 2nd Place Overall! 🥈 We’re also proud to share that we took 1st Place in the Perch category! 🐟🏆

It was a beautiful day out on the ice, and the teamwork and determination shown by these anglers made us incredibly proud.

Way to go, team! 💙🎣

The River Falls Fishing Team had an unforgettable weekend at the WIFA 2026 Ice Fishing State Championship in Wausau this past Friday and Saturday!

Friday’s weather definitely made things interesting, but our anglers made the best of it. We quickly learned which landing not to use (with plenty of vehicles getting stuck!) and adjusted our plan. After some scouting, we found productive spots, stayed persistent, and had plenty of fun along the way.

Friday night, our team attended the mixer with over 1,100 student anglers from across the state.

On Saturday, we competed against 92 other high school teams and finished 28th overall!
Highlights included:
🎣 8th place for our stringer of 10 perch
🎣 22nd largest northern pike of the tournament

We are proud of the teamwork and the willingness to keep going no matter the conditions. Way to represent River Falls! 💙🎣

❄️🎣 Two Tournaments in One Weekend.🎣❄️

Two weekends ago was extremely cold, so we made the call to skip that weekend and crammed both tournaments into this past weekend—and our team showed up strong!

⏱️ 12 hours on the ice Saturday
⏱️ 8 hours on the ice Sunday
…and a LOT of fish were caught 🐟

🔥 Saturday highlight:
🏅 4th place with our stringer of three bluegills

🔥 Sunday highlight:
🥇 1st place for the LARGEST bass caught by any high school team in the entire state of Wisconsin 💪🎣

We couldn’t be prouder of this group. Some students caught their first fish on the ice, others landed their biggest fish ever, and every kid showed grit, teamwork, and determination.
