Big Fifth Inning Leads Chippewa Past Rittman Indians (Varsity)

Chippewa scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Rittman Indians (Varsity) 11-1 on Friday at Gilmour Academy.
Chippewa jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Eby tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Chippewa scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored two runs, Hegarty singled, scoring one run, Klotzle was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored two runs.
Conyers earned the win for Chippewa. The hurler surrendered two hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Spencer Welch took the loss for Rittman Indians (Varsity). The righty went four and one-third innings, giving up 10 runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out eight and walking four.
Welch and Odin Weirick were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Rittman Indians (Varsity) while hitting back-to-back. Weirick went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
Eby, Klotzle, Hegarty, and Foster each drove in two runs for Chippewa. Chippewa didn't commit a single error in the field. Croft had the most chances in the field with eight.
