Around 14-hours at the ballpark (literally the first girls to pull into the parking lot Saturday morning and the last ones to pull out Saturday night) but our Reapers left Williamsburg with more hardware and a whole lot to be proud of!
Despite a challenging schedule that had us play in the first pool play game at 8AM, the last game at 2pm, and then beginning our bracket play at 7PM, our girls never stopped competing! Reapers won three consecutive games in which our pitching duo Rae and Addi threw back-to-back-to-back no hitters while our offense outscored their opponents 39-1 with every single girl getting in on the action throughout the day!
The long, hot day caught up to us during the championship and we ran out of gas against a team that's lost just 4 games in over a year, but that will just be motivation to work even harder this Summer!
Congratulations to Molly Henderson on being named Tournament MVP and earning herself another GOAT ring! Molly set the pace offensively all day long. Her stats for this weekend included hitting multiple XBH including two home runs (and just a triple shy of batting for the cycle), scoring 6 runs, knocking in 4 RBI, and a perfect 6 for 6 on steal attempts. An .800 OBP from the leadoff spot was complimented by an absolutely absurd slugging percentage of 1.833!
We also had two additional Reapers earn GOAT rings this week as well:
π Natalie Frazier - who continued a red hot Spring/Summer by collecting 5RBIs on clutch hitting while scoring 3 runs and stealing multiple bases. Her offense was complimented by tramendous defensive play at multiple positions!
π Aleah Kelley - whose multi-XBH day was also just a triple short of the cycle! Aleah has been working with her coaches in practice and on her own time at DBats for several months to add slap hitting to her offensive weapons and she showed off her hard work, going a perfect 2 for 2 on slaps this weekend, while getting it done from both the left and right side of the plate! She too played multiple defensive positions throughout the day and made some key outs for us!
Finally, what can we say about our girl #48? The hard-throwing, hard-hitting Rae Rae represented Reapers so well in the Homerun Derby, earning runner up in a field loaded with some of the biggest hitters from every team in the tournament!
Our Reapers will enjoy a bit of well earned rest before we return to action on June 20/21 at the Queen City Girls of Summer Championship in Cincinnati.
Go Reapers! π π€
