Today we celebrate the day we ALL were free, including Black Americans.
June 19, 1865 marks the moment when the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a reminder of the resilience of a people who built this nation even when it refused to recognize their humanity.
As a Black‑owned organization, 804 Mafia exists today because of that freedom. Our ability to lead, build, compete, and create community is rooted in the sacrifices and strength of those who came before us. Their fight made our future possible.
We honor that legacy every time we step on the field.
Happy Juneteenth from the Mafia Family.
