Reamstown Eagle Scout Project Benefits Community Park
Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese

Logan Pierce, a Reamstown Pack 60 Scout, recently completed his Eagle Scout Service Project. To receive this award, a scout must plan, develop, and lead a large-scale service project that benefits their community or a non-profit organization. Logan chose making a gaga pit as his project within the Reamstown Park. He spent three weeks on the project, which also included benches for parents to sit and relax on. A scout bake sale helped offset costs, as well as contributions from local businesses.

To become an Eagle Scout, you must earn a total of 21 merit badges. This must include 14 specific Eagle-required badges, with choices allowed for several categories. Scouts can choose any seven additional merit badges of their choice to complete the requirements.

Logan Pierce is shown above standing in front of the park’s completed gaga pit.

Congratulations to Griffin Ossman and Nathan Helm on an incredible achievement! 📚🏆

The boys teamed up to write and illustrate their very own book, “Adventures in Cub Scouts,” which earned the Grade Prize for Storytelling this year!

Their book highlights many of the fun adventures, activities, and memories they’ve experienced throughout their time in Cub Scouts — a wonderful reflection of what scouting is all about.

One photo shows Griffin and Nathan proudly posing in the library with their certificates and trophies, while the other captures them presenting a copy of their book to their Cubmaster, Mr. Mark.

We are so proud of their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm for scouting. Great job, boys! 👏⚜️

A weekend full of camping, laughter, and fellowship! ⛺🎢

While there may not have been a lot of “traditional scouting” on this outing, there was plenty of fun and time together. The troop spent 2 nights tent camping, kicked off the mornings with a campground scavenger hunt in teams, and then split into groups to enjoy the rides and attractions throughout the day.

To top off the weekend, we celebrated our SPL — and future Eagle Scout — Logan Pierce’s 18th birthday on the final night! 🎉

Great memories, great friendships, and a great weekend with the troop!

👏🏼 Great job, Logan!

👏🏼 Great job, Logan!

The Gaga Ball Pit is officially complete and ready to use! 🏐 Bring a ball and come check it out at the park.

This awesome project was built by local Scout Logan Pierce as his Eagle Scout project. Logan also built beautiful benches for the area, creating a great new space for kids and families to enjoy.

Thank you, Logan, for your hard work, dedication, and this wonderful addition to our park!

On the weekend of April 10 – 12, the Troop attended the Iron Forge District Merit Badge College at Camp Bashore in Lebanon County. The weather, while a little chilly at night, did not chill the fun we had. The older scouts attended two merit badge classes during the day, where they worked on earning their chosen badges. In total, 10 merit badges were earned that day. The new scouts to the troop worked on scouting skill such as map & compass, fire building with flint & steel, and cooking over a camp stove. This was also the new scout’s first outing in tents with the troop. In the evening, the scouts played Ga-Ga ball and Frisbie golf. We finished the day off with a campfire and smores.

What a perfect spring evening for our Webelos! 🌿☀️

The boys explored Speedwell Forge, learning how GPS and technology can enhance their outdoor adventures. Even though their leader is currently recovering from surgery, that didn’t slow things down—he mapped out the hike and had the boys radio back their waypoints along the way. Talk about teamwork and determination!

They wrapped up the night the best way possible—with a well-earned celebration stop at Fox Meadows. 🍦

Proud of these boys for their curiosity, resilience, and sense of adventure!

The weekend of March 7, the troop went to Camp Rodney on the Chesapeake Bay.

The troop spent the weekend at the rifle range, target shooting .22 Rifles. For a couple scouts this was the first time shooting rifles. The staff at Rodney gave them training and were great help!

The troop then spent time hiking to Turkey Point Lighthouse. Although a heavy fog obscured the beautiful view, the scouts enjoyed exploring the park grounds. The Troop also hiked to the Camp Rodney water front where some got wetter than others.

Evenings were spent in camp playing games and making Mexican Smores over the wood burning stove.
