Poolside Chat with Coach Pat 🏊♂️
Hey everyone—Coach Pat here!
I’ve been part of the Lubbock community since 1975 when I came here to attend Texas Tech, and my wife Sherry and I have called Ransom Canyon home for more than 25 years. This area and the families in it mean a lot to us.
Water has always been a big part of my life. I was a lifeguard, a competitive swimmer in high school, and I’m a certified scuba diver. That love carried into our home, where building a backyard pool turned into something even more meaningful, a place where our family gathers, laughs, and makes memories with our eight grandchildren.
But what truly changed everything for me was watching my youngest granddaughter go through an Infant Aquatics course. Seeing her become confident and capable in the water sparked something in me. That’s when I knew I wanted to teach these life-saving skills to other children.
Since then, I’ve become CPR certified for adults, children, and infants. I completed 100+ hours of in-water training, along with studies in child development, behaviorism, psychology, and anatomy and physiology. I handle the instruction, and Sherry keeps everything running smoothly as our business manager.
Around here, our kids and grandkids are always near pools, lakes, and water of all kinds. That’s why water safety isn’t optional, it’s essential.
Teaching children how to respond in the water gives them confidence, builds independence, and most importantly, helps keep them safe.
That’s exactly why we started Little Flippers Infant Aquatics & Swim, to share our love for the water, serve our community, and give families peace of mind.
I’m honored to be part of your child’s journey and can’t wait to see them grow in confidence, skill, and safety.
