Little Flippers Infant Aquatics + Swim

Little Flippers Infant Aquatics + Swim Infant Water Survival and Swim Lessons My name is Pat Sullivan and I have been in the Lubbock area since 1975 when I came to Texas Tech.

My wife Sherry and I have lived in Ransom Canyon for over 25 years. I was a life guard, a competitive swimmer in High School and a certified scuba diver. Because of my love for the water we had a pool built in our yard. With eight grandchildren it's a great family gathering place. My youngest granddaughter has taken an Infant Aquatics course and is an avid swimmer now and that is one of the reason

s why I became an instructor in Infant Aquatics. I am certified in CPR for adults ,children and infants. I have also completed a six week certification for Infant Aquatics with Kim Emery as my instructor in Decatur Texas. I spent six weeks and participated in over 100 hours of in water training including studies in Child Development, Behaviorism, Psychology and Anatomy and Physiology. Our children are constantly around pools and lakes which makes water safety of the utmost importance for our families. Children must learn water survival skills to keep them safe and allow families to enjoy water activities around any water conditions. I look forward to teaching your children!

Poolside chat with Coach Pat

☀️ Summer ☀️has officially arrived in West Texas, and that means fun in the sun and the water.

Friendly reminders as we begin the long weekend:
💙 Always have eyes 👀 on your swimmers, even the strong swimmers.
❤️ Put phones down during swim time. Active eyes save lives.
💛 Sunscreen + hydration + swim breaks = happy swimmers.
💚 Teach kids to ask permission before entering any water.
🤍 Swimming lessons build confidence, skills, and safety, but no child is ever “drown proof.”
💜 Empty kiddie pools after use. Even small amounts of water can be dangerous.
🛟 Make water safety fun, not scary.
🧡 Confidence grows with consistency!

Poolside Chat with Coach Pat 🏊‍♂️

Hey everyone—Coach Pat here!

I’ve been part of the Lubbock community since 1975 when I came here to attend Texas Tech, and my wife Sherry and I have called Ransom Canyon home for more than 25 years. This area and the families in it mean a lot to us.

Water has always been a big part of my life. I was a lifeguard, a competitive swimmer in high school, and I’m a certified scuba diver. That love carried into our home, where building a backyard pool turned into something even more meaningful, a place where our family gathers, laughs, and makes memories with our eight grandchildren.

But what truly changed everything for me was watching my youngest granddaughter go through an Infant Aquatics course. Seeing her become confident and capable in the water sparked something in me. That’s when I knew I wanted to teach these life-saving skills to other children.

Since then, I’ve become CPR certified for adults, children, and infants. I completed 100+ hours of in-water training, along with studies in child development, behaviorism, psychology, and anatomy and physiology. I handle the instruction, and Sherry keeps everything running smoothly as our business manager.

Around here, our kids and grandkids are always near pools, lakes, and water of all kinds. That’s why water safety isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Teaching children how to respond in the water gives them confidence, builds independence, and most importantly, helps keep them safe.

That’s exactly why we started Little Flippers Infant Aquatics & Swim, to share our love for the water, serve our community, and give families peace of mind.

I’m honored to be part of your child’s journey and can’t wait to see them grow in confidence, skill, and safety.

Wondering what to expect at swim lessons? We’ve got you!

From day one, the focus is on water safety, confidence, and consistency; all in a calm, encouraging environment designed just for little learners.

Here’s what you can expect:
• A gentle, step-by-step introduction to water skills
• One-on-one guidance tailored to your child’s pace
• Repetition that builds muscle memory and confidence
• Tears are okay, learning something new can be overwhelming, but we work through it together 🤍
• Big wins (and we celebrate every single one!)

Our goal is simple: equip your child with life-saving skills while helping them feel safe and confident in the water.

Have questions? Coach Pat is always happy to chat!

Little Flippers Water Safety Tip 💦

Ditch the floaties, choose life jackets instead.

While arm floaties and puddle jumpers may seem helpful, they can actually give children a false sense of security and encourage unsafe body positioning in the water (upright instead of horizontal for swimming).

What to do instead:
✔ Use a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket around open water (lakes, oceans, boats)
✔ Stay within arm’s reach of your child—always
✔ Reinforce real swim skills through consistent lessons

The goal isn’t just to feel safe, it’s to be safe.

We are so excited to have each of you with us and are truly encouraged by your little ones’ aptitude and enthusiasm for swimming.

Session Two is just around the corner! If you haven’t secured your spot yet, now is the time, and we’d love to see your little flipper continue building these life-saving skills with us.

When it comes to water safety, what your child wears matters more than you think.

The safest swimwear colors are the ones you can see instantly.
Bright, high-contrast colors help you keep eyes on your swimmer at all times, whether you're at the pool, lake, or beach.

Best choices:
🟡Neon yellow
🔶Neon orange
💚Neon green
💓Hot pink

These colors pop against the water and are easiest to spot both above and below the surface.

⚠️Colors to avoid⚠️
🩵Light blue
🤍White
🖤Black
🩶Gray

These shades can blend into the water, making it harder to see your child quickly, especially in deeper or murky conditions.

Little Flippers Tip:
The goal isn’t just cute, it’s visible + safe.

Choosing the right color can make a real difference in an emergency.

Let’s keep our little swimmers safe, confident, and easy to spot all season long .💙
