When we started working together about 7 weeks ago, I took her to the stairs maybe on the 2nd session I think. We did just 3x up and down and that was enough to make her feel taxed and winded. COVID had ravaged her body for almost 2 years!
Well yesterday we did 18x up and down, which is more stairs than if we had climbed the Empire State Building....and remember no one generally walks down the stairs after climbing them at the ESB, they take the elevator down...but we climbed! 7 different variations: 1 stair at a time, 2 at a time, 3 at a time, 1 stairs side to side (like a speed skater) 2 side to side, 2 stairs completely sideways with a crossover in step of the same and finally completely backwards...yes I said backwards.
91 steps on these stairs and we did them 18x (1638 stairs plus and extra 10 at the top) while breathing in the negative ions of the ocean air of MAMA PACIFICA and taking in HER Glory. It had drizzled a bit that morning, so the beach was empty and we were pretty much alone the entire time. We even did a few sets of stiff-legged deadlifts afterwards and deep stretching that we always end our sessions on.
This is High Intensity Interval Training at its best.
So proud of her. She KICKS ASS! Such a sweet, loving person, full of joy who says hi to everyone we pass on our power walks.
Exercise is key. It is a cornerstone of staying healthy. Makes you feel and look marvelous.
