As the new year arrived I instinctively made many plans and developed strategies on how I can get better personally and professionally. My mind suddenly drifted to the book Four Disciplines of Ex*****on (4DX) by Chris McChesney, Jim Huling, and Sean Covey. where the authors discuss successfully implementing goals and the reasons most organizations don't achieve theirs. They go on to discuss how, organizations or departments can have ten great ideas on what they plan to do, however, they should only pick two in order to implement those plans successfully. The same is typical for individuals.

According to research, 92% of people who set New Year's goals don't reach them. So as we move into this new year, set smaller goals and you will see a difference. For example, if your goal is to start working out, begin with one minute of exercise. If your goal is to start your own business, begin by just researching. Or maybe your goal is to be a better leader, begin with just asking questions.

Whatever your goal is, create easily achievable wins and find your self closer to the goal line than expected.
