Real fighting is messy 👊 Fighting is chaotic and as you can see in the video the street is very DIFFERENT from the octagon or ring or dojo mats! There are multiple people, obstacles, curbs, and vehicles and no ref and no rules. Situational awareness and situational control must be cultivated. Structure and FACING your assailant or opponent is critical in all forms and styles of fighting - especially in close. Knife fighting 🔪 Here we free spar or duel and see what happens. Duels with knives actually DO occur and there’s plenty of video evidence to back that up. So sometimes we train this way! 🧠💡 Footwork, speed, timing, covering center, and employing deception all really count during training like this. But hopefully you can see there is a way to be successful in this sort of encounter. Bravo to this Crane & Cobra student for bringing willing to engage in this type of training. The reality of knife attacks is, of course much darker and nastier but there are benefits to sparring like this occasionally.
