The most important things a beginner can learn are [a] how to hold the stick to control the right and left sides of the ball and [b] making a rainbow with the left hand while NOT holding onto the stick with their right hand. THE BEST way to practice and develop that skill is to move the ball back and forth, from right to left and back again, over a 36" course in front of their feet. At least once a day they should measure their success by doing the Yardstick Test. This video demonstrates the Yardstick Test.
