To all who follow our page, I need to tell you about a highly dangerous situation that I caused while teaching a class yesterday. While teaching the grip and trigger press portion of the class , using a revolver that I believed I had safety check twice, once when I put it in the display rack and once again when I chose it for the demonstration. On the second trigger press of the demonstration I discharged the weapon through the front wall of the classroom ( opposite the students) and into my pickup taillight . This is known as a negligent discharge. It was 100 percent avoidable and 100 percent my fault. The moments afterwards were understandable stressful, scary and tense for everyone involved. I instructed my wife to call the police while we found out where the bullet stopped . Thank God there were no physical injuries. The police arrived and took statements and pictures. There response couldn’t have been more professional. We did all we could do at the moment by providing full immediate refunds but know that we cannot compensate for the fear my actions caused . The building owner was as understanding as could be under the circumstances and we will ensure full compensation to the damages. I realize the damage to my reputation as a fi****ms trainer is massive. I take this responsibility very seriously. Moving forward I have some very real soul searching to do . Meanwhile if nothing else good comes from this I hope you all can learn from my mistake. If it can happen to me, it could happen to you . As bad as this was it could have been tragic. In the meantime I urge you to share this post in hopes that it prevents another similar situation.
Humbly,
Tom
