We started Bumbleroot with the belief that if we partnered with the best producers and used their ingredients to create delicious nutrient-dense foods, we could help shift our food system to one that is better for the planet, our producers, and our health.

Bumbleroot has been a bootstrapped operation. We are so fortunate that our customers have been with us from the very beginning of this journey to better our food system and our health through an Indiegogo campaign, a Kiva loan, and the pre-orders that have helped us manage demand as a growing company.

This approach has given us the flexibility to create the best products and work with emerging producers who share our values and are creating the best ingredients. But that also means that I’ve worked in every part of the business, from sourcing the ingredients, to testing the products in my kitchen, to mixing and filling pouches in a commercial kitchen, packing and shipping orders, and answering customer service questions. I’ve loved every part of it.

We are so grateful for all of you who have joined us along the way. Because of your steadfast support and high standards of quality, we have worked together to create a better food system and put better products on the shelves of actual and virtual stores. We are here because of YOU.

You’ve been patient with COVID delays, production delays, customer service delays and all the issues that get amplified with a small company. Thank you!

AND we want to do better and make an even bigger impact.

In 2025, we are relaunching with new additions to our selection of products and are adding to our team. These changes will help to make sure you get delicious, high quality products as well as a customer experience that will hopefully exceed your expectations.

This Spring, we will be expanding our inventory and reducing the wait times for our products.

We are doing this because we’ve been raising more capital - funds from angel investors and from loans that will allow us to provide the experience our customers deserve. We’ll be keeping you in the loop as we continue this journey.

Regenerative practices = more nutrients & minerals

Coconut water is the main ingredient in our Hydration Drink Mix. The coconuts the water is sourced from are grown on farms that have been cared for by families for generations.

In nature, diversity and abundance allow ecosystems to thrive. Planting other crops around the trees, increases the coconut yield up to 50% and provides additional food and income for the farmers. When cacao and mango are grown amidst coconut trees, it creates a symbiotic relationship that strengthens the tree.

Diversity also eliminates the need for using chemicals to manage weeds and pests. Planting Australian peanut at the base of the trees helps prevent weeds from growing that would take vital nutrients out of the coconut tree. Coconut husks placed next to the trees act as a fertilizer and provide a place for snakes to live. The snakes, in turn, help to protect the trees by eating pests.

Coconut trees live to around 80 years old and are important sequesters of carbon. Coconut trees with intercropping sequester 343 MT of carbon per acre per year - the equivalent of 272 cars.

We believe the best ingredients = the best hydration.

We believe that electrolytes (which are minerals) are the most bioavailable to you when they come from real food. Our ingredients are in the most whole form possible so that your nutrients and minerals are coming from the real thing, instead of the isolates in most hydration drinks.

The potassium in our mix comes from the coconut water. The potassium in the coconut water comes from the soil. Great agricultural practices mean that more minerals are absorbed by plants, and then, by us.

The Hydration Drink We Can’t Keep in Stock.

You might know that our hydration drink starts with the best ingredients - regeneratively sourced coconut water and baobab powder. But Bumbleroot and our products go beyond that - we believe that our whole company and the way we do things should be regenerative - the way we think about packaging, the way we work with our suppliers, the way we partner with our community.
