Just a reminder to everyone sign ups are still active for Flag Football starting in August!
Numbers are currently low, so we are sending out a reminder, and we thought we would address some questions or issues we've heard from some of you.
Beallsville looks like they will be having k-6 flag this year. I have been in contact with them, and they love the idea of playing each other. Also Shadyside and Moundsville have leagues that we are aware of as well.
Last year was our first year, so we kept it minimal as far as who we played. Obviously it wasnt ideal to play the same teams every week, but that was by design, to see how well everything went. We always had plans of expansion in our schedule for following years.
We also have plans in the future of becoming NFL FLAG certified, but that is still years away, depending on involvement and dedication from the league, coaches, players and parents. That will require some actual traveling.
Also we'd love if over time we had enough interest from girls that the high school at River was able to become an OHSAA certified member for GIRLS VARSITY FLAG FOOTBALL.
---------------------------------------------------
Last season we tried to accommodate many different schedules for kids playing other fall sports. Honestly it was the only way we were able to have a 3-4 team and a 5-6 team. We wanted the kids to enjoy playing their other sports as well as flag football.
We will try again this year, however all games and practices wont be on Sundays. Practices will be up to each individual coach, including days and time of those practices. Games will be tbd, but they almost assuredly wont be on Sundays only. We are more than likely looking for games 2 days a week, with the hopes of playing 10 games total, if not more!
Lastly we are looking into real actual flag football uniforms for the season, instead of just a tshirt. They always say, look good, feel good, play good! We we definitely want all the kids to enjoy wearing the uniform they are putting on.
We will attach the google docs link and the flyer below as well to share!
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, ideas, recommendations, anything at all, please feel free to contact Tyler Mandich or Justin Fetty.
We hope to see everyone this fall!
