DELTA COLLEGE PREP RETURNS ’09 GOALTENDER DRYDEN WALDSCHMIDT FROM COLORADO

Delta College Prep is proud to announce the return of 2009-born goaltender Dryden Waldschmidt for the 2026-27 season.

Originally from Colorado, Waldschmidt returns after spending the 2025-26 campaign developing within the Delta College Prep program. As one of the younger players on last season’s roster, Dryden embraced a developmental role while continuing to refine his game and prepare for increased responsibilities moving forward. He appeared in multiple games for Delta, posting a .889 save percentage across five appearances. Prior to joining Delta, Waldschmidt also spent time with the Maine Mariners 15U AAA program.

General Manager David Dew:
“I have had the absolute privilege of working with Dryden, his older brother Cohen, and the Waldschmidt family for multiple years now. Dryden competes extremely hard for us and has a skating foundation that I cannot wait to continue developing. I’m excited to see him step into a bigger role this season. It’s well deserved after the patience, work ethic, and development he displayed throughout 2025-26. Dryden loves his teammates and has a personality that keeps everyone laughing on a daily basis. Those types of players are incredibly valuable within a team culture, and we’re fortunate to have him back with us for another season.”

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:
“We are excited to welcome Dryden Waldschmidt back for next season. Dryden earned this opportunity through his strong development last year, showcasing excellent footwork and steady progression in the crease. In his game action, he showed very promising flashes, giving a clear glimpse of his potential and ability to compete at a high level. We are looking forward to seeing him step into a bigger role and continue his growth this upcoming season.”

‘08 OWEN CLEVINGER RETURNS TO DELTA COLLEGE PREP FOR 2026-27

Delta College Prep is pleased to announce the re-signing and return of 2008 forward Owen Clevinger for the 2026-27 season.

Clevinger, another mid-season addition during the 2025-26 campaign, brings clear offensive upside and a strong scoring background. Prior to joining Delta, “OC” was dominant at the OSHL level with the Pickerington Prowlers, recording 13 goals and 6 assists for 19 points in just 9 games. After making the jump to the college prep level, Clevinger appeared in 14 games for Delta, tallying 1 goal and 4 assists.

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:
“We’re excited to welcome back Owen Clevinger for the upcoming season. A talented forward who was part-time with us last season, Owen showed flashes of high-end ability and offensive creativity. As he continues to bring consistency to his game, we’re confident his impact will grow in a big way. We’re very excited to see what OC can do for us this season.”

General Manager David Dew:
“OC came to us last year wanting to improve the caliber of competition he competes against while developing a skill set that will translate to Tier II junior hockey. He showed promising upside very early with his scoring ability and puck movement within all three zones. We have high expectations for him and his production this season. LOCAL 2010 OSHL STANDOUT TAGAN ABBITT SIGNS WITH DELTA

Delta College Prep is proud to announce the signing of 2010 forward Tagan Abbitt from the Pickerington Prowlers of the OSHL.

Tagan brings strong offensive upside, quick foot speed, and a mature compete level for his age. While his Pickerington varsity statistics are unavailable, he also competed with Team Columbus 16U during split season where he recorded 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points in 12 games. Tagan also appeared in several games with Delta College Prep last season as an affiliate player. In those appearances, he impressed our staff with his pace, vision, physicality, and ability to create offense from the middle of the ice.

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:
“We’re excited to welcome Tagan Abbitt to the program. As a freshman center who finished the season as a starter for the Pickerington Prowlers varsity team, Tagan also saw action in a few games with Delta this past year and performed very well. He brings high hockey IQ and versatility, having played both center and wing throughout the season. He is a strong, physical presence down the middle with clear offensive upside, and we’re very excited to see the strides Tagan will make with us this upcoming season.”

General Manager David Dew:
“We are very happy to bring Tagan into Delta for a full season. He joined us as an affiliate player in a few games last year, and we really liked his game. He plays bigger and acts older than he is, and we believe he will be an excellent addition to this year’s culture and roster.”

JONAS FARMEN SIGNS TENDER WITH EHL POWERHOUSE PHILADELPHIA HOCKEY CLUB

Delta College Prep -> EHL

Delta College Prep is extremely excited to announce another Tier 2 Junior advancement, this time for Jonas Farmen, who has signed a tender with the Philadelphia Hockey Club. PHC finished 2nd overall in the EHL this season, losing just 6 games all year. Jonas has been a 2 year member of the College Prep program and currently ranks among the top 5 in all time assists in program history.

In his first year with Delta College Prep, Jonas joined the team after a stint in the NA3HL where he produced at a point per game pace. He then relocated to Columbus, Ohio to join College Prep during its National Championship run, recording 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points.

In year two, Jonas posted 2 goals and 20 assists while stepping into a top 6 center role during his senior campaign. While we are celebrating his junior advancement, it is also worth noting that Jonas verbally committed to Hiram College NCAA D3 this season, where he plans to continue his academic and athletic career following Tier 2 junior hockey.

#28 Jonas Farmen:
“I am excited to announce my commitment to play Tier 2 Junior hockey and continue my development with the Philadelphia Hockey Club. I want to thank my family and friends for their love and support, and a special thank you to Coach Bartholomay and Delta College Prep for the opportunity.”

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:
“Huge congratulations to Jonas on tendering with the Philadelphia Hockey Club. He is a power forward who made an impact in every situation and was an absolute force on the dot. He has been a key piece for us, and we are excited to keep watching his growth and everything that comes next for him.”

General Manager David Dew:
“I have had the pleasure of having Jonas in our program for the past two seasons. His work ethic and character have always stood out, and he has been a model teammate and leader from day one. He is a physical two way forward who rarely loses faceoffs and brings value in every area of the game. We pulled him out of Tier 3 juniors last season, and since then he has earned an NCAA D3 commitment while also creating multiple Tier 2 junior opportunities for himself. We are incredibly proud to have been a part of his journey. Congratulations to Jonas and the Farmen family, and thank you to Coach Bartholomay for working with us throughout this advancement.”

DELTA COLLEGE PREP ALUM JASON BERTRAND COMMITS TO OAKLAND UNIVERSITY ACHA D1

Delta College Prep → ACHA Division 1

Delta College Prep is proud to announce that 2006-born post graduate Jason Bertrand has committed to Oakland University ACHA Division 1.

Bertrand spent two seasons with Delta College Prep, serving as an affiliate player during the 2024–25 season before joining full-time for 2025–26's campaign.

Across his time with the program, Bertrand appeared in 57 total games, consistently demonstrating leadership, toughness, and a true team-first mentality. Known for his willingness to stand up for teammates, “Berty” established himself as a respected presence in the locker room.

A versatile player, Bertrand contributed at both defense and forward, showcasing strong two-way ability and adaptability—key traits that made him an important piece of the Delta lineup over both seasons.

#16 Jason Bertrand: “I want to thank my mom for being there every step of the way—from long car rides to late nights. Dad, thank you for watching over me while I live life. I couldn’t be more thankful for you both. Thank you to Coach Mitch, David, and Writz for helping me along the way and making me not only a better hockey player, but a better person. Lastly, I’d like to thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love again—this wouldn’t be possible without Him.”

General Manager David Dew: “Berty is the type of player every program needs more of. He showed up every day, did things the right way, and never once made it about himself. Whether he was playing defense or forward, he gave us honest, hard minutes and bought into whatever role we asked of him. He’s a competitor, he’s physical when he needs to be, and he’s the first guy to step in for a teammate. We’re extremely proud of Berty and the way he’s represented Delta College Prep. Congratulations to the Bertrand family, and thank you to Coach Mammel for working with us on this advancement.”

Head Coach Mitchell Gillespie:
“Jason is a coach’s player in every sense of the word. He’s reliable, he competes, and he understands what it takes to win. Whether we had him on the back end or up front, he brought the same level of effort and detail every night. He earned the respect of our locker room through his work ethic and the way he carried himself day to day. Players like Berty are the foundation of a strong culture, and Oakland is getting a guy who is going to do things the right way from day one. We’re proud of him and excited to see what he does at the next level.”
