Your tree points should never terminate on the trapezius or spinalis cervicis muscles alongside the withers.

If they do, you’re creating a concentrated pressure point right where your horse needs freedom to lift and engage through the topline.

Think of it this way: would you want to do a sit-up while someone is jamming the end of a broom handle into your abs? Neither does your horse. 😉

Perfect Horse:
A horse with defined withers and some shape through the back. The adjustable gullet and wool flocking allow for ongoing adjustments as your horse changes, but this is generally not the saddle I’d reach for when fitting a true “barrel on legs”, or our flat backed Dutch harness horse type horses.
