DIII Week: Sophomore captain Katherine Steeves is an Exercise Science major from Kingston, N.Y. She tallied up 12 first place finishes this season, five in both the 100 Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley, and two in the 200 Butterfly. She also finished .2 seconds behind third place, and an all-conference spot, in the 200 Butterfly on the final day of the 2026 SUNYAC Championship. Steeves was named to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for 2025 and earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Swimming and Diving Academic All-District team for 2026.

We are proud to nominate Nataelee Mullen for this years portrait of a Potsdam athlete. Nataelee has worked hard in and out of the classroom. A junior majoring in Early Childhood education, she has shown what it truly means to be a Potsdam bear. Not only has she worked hard in the pool, it has shown in her times where she dropped multiple seconds leading to many personal bests this year. She is always there cheering on her teammates in the pool during practice and meets, keeping the energy high. She also received the CSC Academic All District Honors, showing how hard she works in the classroom as a student athlete. She’s always has a smile and we are so proud to call her as a Potsdam Seabear.

We are proud to nominate Matt for the Portrait of a Potsdam Athlete award.
A junior on the men’s swim team, Matt has made a strong impact over his two seasons through his commitment, discipline, and drive to improve every day. As an Exercise Science major, he balances a demanding schedule that includes competing in rugby and track & field, as well as his involvement in ROTC at Clarkson. He joined the swim team to be apart of a community and he is a great teammate to have.
When he’s not in the pool, he’s in the gym putting in extra work and constantly striving to be better. His work ethic, persistence, and determination set the tone for those around him.
Matt is a true leader and role model, he is consistently demonstrating integrity, passion, and pride in everything he does. He represents the values of Potsdam Athletics at the highest level, both in the classroom and in competition.
