No matter what age or life you are or stage you are in as an executive leader, you have things tugging at your attention throughout the day that extend beyond the workplace.

Your personal roles pull at your attention and threaten your ability to be present and sometimes your ability to be productive:
-Caregiving for elder parents
-Being there for your children and spouse
-Navigating when children grow up and head to college
-Community organizations and involvement

How do you stay present no matter what’s in front of you in life?

As a leader, it’s essential to learn how to establish and hold firm boundaries and understand what yours are so that you can stay present no matter where you are. Home, work, cheering your kids on on the soccer field, or out for date night.

Executives face issues and challenges that are highly unique and specific based on their roles and the various hats they wear in life. It can feel like there’s just no place to talk about them, work on them, and get the tools and resources they need to get unstuck.

This may seem like a small thing. But sadly, so many leaders, prior to working with me as their coach, don’t take time to celebrate what they’re excelling at or their successes along the way.

They simply focus on the next thing, the next milestone, goal, or skill to be attained.

Celebrate your wins and accomplishments along the way -even the little stuff.

Celebrate when you navigate a difficult conversation with someone on your team
Celebrate when you stay focused on a project and bring it to completion
Celebrate when you accomplish a goal you set for yourself.

Bringing attention to your regular success will help you to build confidence in even the small actions, and keep you motivated as you continue to build and grow your confidence as a leader.

Understand Yourself as an Individual

Do you want to build your confidence as a leader?

It starts with understanding yourself as an individual.

Building your confidence as a leader starts with self-awareness so you can lead from strength that’s within.

When I say understanding yourself, I mean really understanding. You will have to get honest about your strengths, weaknesses, and blindspots so you can work on yourself.

Knowing yourself means getting clear on what your values are, what motivates you, and being able to observe your personality and habits in action when they leap into sabotage you or send you into autopilot.

When you commit to increasing your awareness and knowledge of yourself, you’re on your way to building your confidence as a leader and showing up more courageously.
