The Summer Ready Workout (not what you think).

This isn't about looking good at the beach. This is about DOING things this summer without your body holding you back.

THE FUNCTIONAL SUMMER PREP:
3 rounds, rest as needed:

- Goblet Squats x 12 (for hiking and biking)
- Push-ups x 10 (for paddling and carrying coolers)
- Single-leg RDL x 8 each (for trail stability)
- Farmer's Carry x 40 steps (for hauling everything everywhere)
- Plank x 45 seconds (for literally all of it)

Summer in Portland means: Hood to Coast training. Mt. Tabor hill sprints. Sauvie Island adventures. Backyard volleyball.

All of that requires a body that can show up and perform.

Build the machine. Then use it.

Your lower back pain might not be a back problem. It might be a glute problem.

Most chronic lower back pain in desk workers comes from:
- Weak glutes (they stop firing after hours of sitting)
- Tight hip flexors (shortened from the seated position)
- Weak core (can't stabilize your spine under load)

Your back is compensating for muscles that checked out.

THE FIX ISN'T REST. IT'S TARGETED STRENGTH.

Core work + glute activation + hip mobility = less back pain. Often dramatically less.

Start with:
- Glute bridges (wake those muscles up)
- Dead bugs (core stability without back strain)
- Hip flexor stretches (undo the sitting damage)
- Farmer's carries (everything at once)

This isn't a replacement for medical care. But if your doctor says "strengthen your core," this is what they mean.

Movement is medicine. When it's the right movement.
