It’s quitting Friday and I’m looking at YOU.

Do not quit today. Do not quit tomorrow or the next day.

Take each day that you do not quit and mark it a win. Wake up knowing you only have to make it 16 hours committed to your goal, then wake up tomorrow with the same mindset.

Now, if you’re 13 days in and you feel like this goal or resolution is no longer in alignment with what you want, then pivot by all means. Goals aren’t set just to hit them, there should be a strong reason for them.

If you’re 13 days in and your goal no longer suits you and there hasn’t been a drastic life change, then it’s time to re-evaluate how you come up with your goals.

BUT, you will not fu***ng quit just because it’s getting hard. You will not quit because you’ve decided you’re comfortable where you are.

You will push through because the goal you made will improve your life and because doing hard things makes better people, healthier people, mentally strong people, and we all have those in us. It’s our choice to embrace it.

Resolutions aren’t right for everyone because not everyone needs to feel like they have to live life with a constant bar to hit.

Sometimes going with the flow and allowing what feels best to consume you at the right time is where you can be most happy.

Here’s to any of you that are in that place right now. Embrace that s**t because it’s certainly a free feeling.

Make sure you’re doing what you feel is right and as soon as you catch yourself feeling off or lost in a negative way, that you can always ground yourself with some goal setting and your grounding list.

A grounding list would be a collection of things that you have in your life that you’re grateful for and are kind of the most basic things you’re always attentive to because they matter above all.

Happiness is the resolution we should all have every day and we should remember to never compare ours to someone else’s.

Find out your friends goals and be the friend that helps them stay accountable.

Doesn’t have to be every day but bring them up in your regular conversations and see how you can help push them to get where they want to be.

You could be the difference between your friends success or failure.

Energy the same for relationships and family. If you aren’t helping make your partner the best they can be then you aren’t being the best partner you can be!

Encourage growth not bad habits.

Same note: stay away from people who encourage your bad habits and spend more time with the ones inspiring you to be better.

Some notes if you’re new or just getting back into the gym and don’t have high confidence in what you’re doing:

- Start with the machines - they usually show you the target muscle and how to perform them. Just don’t sit there on your phone though, make sure you’re doing a set every 60-120 seconds so you’re not holding it up for too long.

- Wear something your comfortable in and don’t be afraid to wear a hat/hood if you’re nervous.

- Remember that the people who know what they’re doing and are there to work, will not be focused on you.

- Go with a friend for the first few times to get a feel of the gym and when you want to go to avoid crowds.

- Find a space in the gym that you feel comfortable in and if you can do most of your work there, do it. You can move benches and weights as you wish, just put them back when you’re done.

- Research form on the exercises you’re planning to do before you get there, it shouldn’t be hard to find anything you want to do with a simple google search.

- On the same note, have a plan. Nothing revs up the nervs like not knowing where you’re going next.

- Act like you know what you’re doing even if you kinda don’t. Confidence can make you look like a seasoned gym vet and faking it can actually lead to being it.

- Go with a friend for the first few times to gain some confidence.

Hear me out… what if you, after a few drinks, made 3-5 goals/resolutions, and set them aside for tomorrow? Some could be genius and worth keeping, or you could throw them right in the trash.

Sometimes a little buzz gives a picture of exactly what you want. Wouldn’t hurt to try right?

(not financial advice)

Hope you all have a happy new year!

I’m trying to find the right balance between work and rest/leisure. If you work 40 hours a week, it’s hard to also get in training and do something else with productivity on a daily basis.

How much of 5-10/11 PM is going to be the right mix for me to feel like I’m doing more than just sitting at a laptop all day then shutting it off and my brain with it.

I’m not even that good at focusing on work so how can I manage focus on something else that may improve my life after work?

Some of y’all are crazy with your work and school or study, I don’t currently have the brain power, maybe I don’t want it.

That’ll be a focus for me going into next year. I think it really depends on what you want, but sometimes that’s not always black and white with a path of exactly what to do.

Here’s to figuring it out 🍻

Happy holidays to all whether you’re taking the time to rest and start new, or continuing the grind straight through!

What do you want? Start by writing down the top things you want out of your life. Then detail what you need to get there. Then let that be your guide when making daily decisions.

For example, I want to do more global travel. That will require mainly money and time. In my everyday decision making, I can decide to forego spending on things that don’t go along with this goal and finding more ways to give myself the time to do it (promotion with more vacation, working for myself, etc.)

If I really want it, I’ll put a little money in my travel savings instead of betting on sports games, I’ll wait on buying a new pair of shoes or buy the ones that are $60 instead of $110.

The decisions won’t be the same for you and the goal might not be either, but living everyday with a goal or a few goals in mind will help you make the best decisions for long term happiness, not just short term excitement.

Be more concerned about being the part than looking the part. Anyone can look the part, but only the ones who put in the work will actually BE the part.

Not everything you enjoy is going to be easy to pursue. Pursue anyway because it’s worth it.

It’s easy to let go of things because they have a barrier to entry like driving a few hours or waking up early, but the only days you’ll regret are the ones you rolled over and slept in instead.

December financial clean up is a good thing to do to make sure you’re only paying for what you really need in subscriptions.

Finance is a huge part of wellness whether we like it or not and can have huge impacts on mood, how you live, relationships, which in turn, affects your happiness.

Take a look at your checking accounts to see if you’re getting charged monthly maintenance fees. You may have fees of $12/month or more if you don’t direct deposit a certain amount or keep a minimum balance.

That’s $288 a year that you may not even notice if you don’t meet those qualifications. While you’re there check on any other fees you may not have noticed and read up on how to avoid them.

Finance is a game that’s won by studying the rules closely.
