We’re set for another Portage tennis meetup this Sunday, October 12. The forecast says temps in the 60s, which is great hitting weather.

I'll be there as usual at the Wayne E. Bartels Middle School tennis courts (255 E Slifer Street, Portage). We'll plan to get started at 4:30 p.m. and continue to 6:30, which is when the sun start setting these days. (Sadly, my tennis ball machine is having some issues, so it won't be available.)

πŸ“ Where: Wayne E. Bartels Middle School tennis courts

Fall is turning cooler, and we probably only have a few more weeks of tennis weather this year, but I plan to make the most of them while weather permits. I hope to see you there!

I'm wondering if some people would prefer a different time than Sunday evenings. Are there other ways you'd like me to help tennis players in the area get to know one another? Please message me with any feedback and suggestions.

Tennis, anyone?

I'm starting a tennis group this summer in the Portage area. For anyone who's interested, I've decided to show up at 5:30 p.m. Sundays at the Wayne E. Bartels Middle School tennis courts, 255 E Slifer Street, Portage. I'll be there beginning this Sunday, May 7 (unless it's raining).

This will be a drop-in group open to players of any age. There is no obligation for you to show up and play every Sunday. This is simply a time frame when I'll be there, and anyone who is interested can show up and play. I'll be wearing a T-shirt that says "Portage Adult Tennis" so you can recognize me. Stop by if you're interested. I'll bring along my tennis ball machine to practice with in case no one shows up, but if you come and you want to try out the ball machine, I'm happy to share it.

I've also started a website with some information about tennis and pickleball opportunities in Columbia and Sauk Counties. It lists existing recreational programs and courts in Portage, Lodi, Baraboo and WIsconsin Dells. The About page tells you a little about me and has a signup form if you want to get notifications about available playing opportunities in the area:

See you on court!
