Good morning,
First and foremost, thank you all for your hard work and participation in Sunday’s competition.
If your teams are not competing at Sunshine, you can disregard the rest of this email. This email is bcc to all organizations.
We did, however, encounter a few issues that need to be addressed before this weekend’s event. Some parents and coaches were reported for being disrespectful to staff. We understand and appreciate the time, effort, and passion you all invest in your athletes’ success, but we must insist that both staff and parents treat our event personnel with respect at all times.
There will be zero tolerance for any parent or spectator using profanity or directing aggressive behavior toward our staff. Our team members are simply enforcing the policies set forth by the RP Funding Center. Any organization whose coaches, athletes, parents or spectators engage in this type of behavior will result in the organization's immediate disqualification. Please communicate this expectation clearly to your parents — our events are intended to remain family-friendly and enjoyable for everyone.
Another issue that must be corrected involves coach and athlete wristbands. We observed coach bands being placed on children and athlete bands being worn on shoes, then transferred between individuals.
Effective immediately and going forward:
All athlete wristbands must be worn on the left wrist.
Any athlete with a band on their shoe will have it removed and will be required to purchase a new one.
Any coach’s band found on a child will result in the organization’s immediate disqualification.
Please ensure your teams and parents are aware of these expectations prior to arrival.
We want to emphasize that we are doing everything possible to keep our events affordable. Despite rising costs for venues, awards, production, and staffing, we have not increased admission or athlete fees in the past seven years. Your cooperation and professionalism help us continue to provide high-quality, enjoyable competitions for everyone.
