Port Huron Minor Hockey has proudly been part of the Blue Water hockey community for generations. Glacier Pointe is more than a building with sheets of ice. It is where our children learn to skate, where teams become families, and where countless memories have been made.
We recognize that the recent purchase of Glacier Pointe by Black Bear Sports Group has created significant concern, frustration, and uncertainty among many of our families and members of our local hockey community. We hear those concerns and share the desire to preserve what makes hockey in Port Huron special.
Our priority has always been and will continue to be our players and families. Youth hockey should remain accessible, community centered, and focused on giving children the opportunity to develop, compete, build friendships, and most importantly, love the game.
We understand that new ownership can bring change. However, we strongly believe the voices of the families, coaches, volunteers, and organizations who have supported this rink and helped build the hockey community around it deserve to be heard.
Port Huron Minor Hockey will continue to advocate for transparency, open communication, reasonable access to ice, and decisions that support the long term future of youth hockey in our community.
Port Huron Minor Hockey has been here for our players and families through many seasons and many changes. That commitment has not changed.
While change can understandably bring uncertainty, it can also create new opportunities. PHMHA is hopeful that the new ownership of Glacier Pointe can bring continued investment in our rink, new opportunities for our players, and additional resources that strengthen hockey in our community.
