This Sunday, the Bluewater Community of Mindful Living will explore The Song Gates of Sweet Nectar, which is a deeply compassionate Buddhist prayer from the Japanese liturgy Kan Ro Mon that became a signature practice and favorite text of Zen Peacemakers founder Roshi Bernie Glassman. He shared an eight-line excerpt with his friend, musician Krishna Das, who then set the words to a melody so communities could sing it together.

Our meeting location is Unity Blue Water, 2912 25th St in Port Huron. This church is a block South of Dove St and the Industrial Park in the south end of town, around the corner from Knox Field. We meet most Sundays at 2 PM, Eastern Standard Time.

This Sunday we'll explore the Kesaputtiya Sutta, the Buddha's discourse on free inquiry, given to the people of Kalama. In this teaching, the Buddha offers practical guidance on how to evaluate whether a teaching is truly beneficial—especially when you are faced with different teachers or ideas that seem to contradict one another.

This continues our review of basic Buddhist teachings. This discourse explains the Second Noble Truth, that suffering has a cause.
