Edge protector in action!
Cost:
Piece of Leaky hose: Free
Scrap of cord: Free
Time: 5 minutes
Is it the best rope protector ever?
No.
Would I rather make my own than spend $30+ on one?
Yes.
A few notes:
-It doesn't really matter how you tie it to the rope, a few wraps and any knot is good enough. Once your on an edge the pressure holds it anyway.
-It stays on quite well, but is possible to pop off if you're going side to side a lot AND there's a bigger angle change for the rope. Usually the more the angle change, the less you're likely to slide back and forth.
-Different hoses will have different results, this was a pretty rigid hose, works great for it and has tons of abrasion resistance.
-You could probably put more time and effort and combine hose/bike tire, etc, to make it even better but that takes more time and effort and for me, this is good enough.
