Pittsburgh NABA Warriors The Warriors baseball team has been competing as one of the original members of the Pittsburgh NABA since 2003.

Championships: 2005, 2012, 2015, 2021, 2022

Retired Numbers: 6, 7, 9, 22, 24, 31, 34 The Pittsburgh NABA Warriors Baseball Club was formed in 2003 (initially as the Piranhas) and currently plays out of Plum, PA. The team is comprised of players of all skill/experience levels ranging from ages 18 to 47. 2022 saw the Warriors celebrate their second consecutive and fifth overall championship title (2005, 2012, 2015, 2021). The Warriors would like to thank the following players for their years of dedicated spirit and service by retiring their jersey numbers: Brent Heintzelman- #6, Brandon Stein- #7, Jason Baker- #9, Justin Newman- #22, Jason Lesher- #24, Doug Ryba- #31, and Steve Heckman- #34

The Warriors want to thank #22 Justin “LocoChico” - “Blichiro” - “Knewman” Newman for his years of dedication and all-out effort with the team. Justin officially retires from competitive baseball after 22 seasons in the Pittsburgh NABA as the league’s all-time stolen base leader (and first player to wear dual sliding mitts on the basepaths). The team (and his son) honored him by donning the #22 together as a whole in his last game. Congrats on a fun and memorable career, sir. It’s been a wild—loco—ride.

Took a while this season, but the Warriors finally tallied their first victory of 2024 with a strong outing on the mound by game MVP and current Warrior Helmet recipient, Kasey Lemasters. Logan Mazur came on to close things out while Steven Eiben saved a couple of sure runs from scoring by making an over-the-shoulder snowcone grab in right field. Warriors are officially in the win column and temporary stand-in coach Joe Brennan is undefeated and proud.

The Warriors wrapped up their 2023 season under .500 and with a loss to D2 in first playoff/play-in game. While this may sound disappointing, many of the games were closer than the ultimate record might imply. Not finishing in last place after having moved up to the AA division was an accomplishment in itself. Next year promises to display new talent and a realistic perspective on what is necessary to compete at this higher level of play. Thanks for a fun season despite the outcome. After dropping their first two games of the 2023 campaign as the newest members of the AA division, the Warriors won in dramatic come-from-behind walk-off fashion in extra innings against the defending AA champion Eagles. In a back and forth battle after 7+ innings from Mitchell Johnston, Logan Mazur collected the “W” when AJ Collins knocked in the winning run with a two-out smash to deep center field. A magical tag-avoiding contortionist type move by Adam Hutter just prior to Collins’s game-winner proved critical in getting the “Dubs” into the win column.
