There are some pros & cons sparring with only body shots.
Cons:
🥊 Your head is vulnerable to punches.
🥊Can create a bad habit of having no defense to your noggin.
🥊Experience managing with distance against your opponent is flawed.
Pros:
🥊Get comfortable throwing punches to a real life person.
🥊Excellent and more intense workout working with a human being.
🥊Competition between the two.
🥊Gets the boxers comfortable to getting to the next level.
🥊Getting good at body shots and opening up your opponent.
🥊Foot work is consistently worked on.
🥊Safer starting off with body shots than going all out and risking injury.
🥊Anyone can do it with supervision.

No silver bullet in the boxing game. But this can jump start your boxer to getting where they want to go. Whether it’s getting in shape or fighting shape. But safety is always Paramount.

Never throw wide hooks in the ring or on the mitts. Not only can your opponent see it coming, it’s slow and reckless. You always want to be in control of your punches & not be wild. If not, you’ll learn the hard way & get caught.
