This is a great example why you shouldn’t tell hitters how wide you should stand in the batter’s box.
It is as simple as the alphabet: (keep it simple)
A = Athletic….get in a Athletic stands (only the hitter know that felling) back knee should be inside back foot look at 2016 vs 2017 photo
B= Balance….The hitter needs to find his balance points (balls of feet) then balance this weight.
C= Comfortable and Confident…. The hitter needs to be comfortable in the batter’s box then he will have the confident to crush the ball.

I did a hitting clinic last month with 75 youth and high school coaches and they asked me to post some of the drills and information we covered, so I will video some of the drills and post.

My Hitting Philosophy:
Since there are numerous philosophies of hitting (no stride, front side, rotational) every hitter is different and what works for one hitter might not work for another hitter. We must be able to adjust to the physical capabilities of each individual. The coach who forces a rigid, narrow hitting philosophy on every member of the team will hinder the development of some hitters, while assisting others.
The goal is to get your hitters into an athletic and balanced position and have an understanding of the fundaments of hitting. This will give them an opportunity for a Quality at bat.

As I prepare for my fall hitting classes/clinics. The mental part of the game:

THE GAME WITHIN THE GAME
Don’t get hung up on the results. Get caught up in the moment, your moment. Play the game one pitch at a time. The last pitch - whether a strikeout, error, base on balls, or hit - is over. Play for the moment. It may be your moment to make the difference. Play in the NOW.

Don’t get hung up on making a mistake. Get hung up on persistently overcoming adversity. Feed on your ability to handle the adversity that the game brings. This separates the winners and losers.

Don’t get hung up on the things you cannot control. Get hung up on the things you can control. Attitude, preparation, commitment and the desire to win.

Winners have answers - Losers have excuses
