Fundraiser: Hoops for Change Free-Throw Shoot-A-Thon 2025
*From Anton Lyons, regional director of 10,000 Degrees

College Park Basketball Families,
I hope this email finds you well. As the fall season approaches and we get back on the court, I want to take a moment to talk about something bigger than the game itself: our role in the community. Our program is committed to developing well-rounded young men, and that includes giving back. That's why I'm excited to announce our participation in the Hoop for Change Free Throw Shoot-a-Thon to benefit 10,000 Degrees.

The mission of 10,000 Degrees is to achieve educational equity and to support students from low-income backgrounds to and through college to realize their full potential and positively impact their communities and the world. This event is our chance to use our skills for a powerful purpose: to fundraise for scholarships for our Contra Costa students. Every shot we make will directly support a student's dream of going to and graduating from college.

🏀 Our event will be held on November 8th, 2:00-4:00pm, at Acalanes High School.

🏀 Step 1: Register Click the registration button to sign up: Register Now

🏀 Step 2: Ask for Pledges Get excited and start asking your family and friends for pledges! Supporters can make a flat donation of at least $100, or they can pledge per shot made. For example, if you shoot 100 free throws and make 50 of them, and a supporter pledges $2 per free throw, that's a $100 donation: Download the Pledge Form here.

🏀 Step 3: Shoot Some Hoops The fun part happens on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at Acalanes High School. This is where you'll make 100 free throws.

🏀 Step 4: Collect Pledges After the event, share your free throw count with your supporters. They can donate directly and securely online: Donate Here

This is an awesome chance for our players to showcase their skills while making a real, positive impact on our community. I'm counting on all of you to bring your best effort, both on and off the court.

Let's make this event a huge success.Thank you for being ONE DEGREE of change!

Just Two Months Away From Tryouts!
November 3rd is the first day of tryouts. What are you doing to prepare yourself?

With two months, you still have time to improve your game, your mind and your body.

- Besides coming to open gyms, are you getting quality game shots up and playing 1v1, 3v3 and 5v5 on the other days?

- Are you lifting or doing strength training 3x a week? You don't need a gym membership to get stronger... pushups (regular, inclined, declined), curling/lifting bricks or unopened 1 gallon jugs of milk (that's about 8 lbs) to exhaustion. Pull Ups at your local park. Planks, body squats, box jumps, running the stairs, wall sits and isometric lunges (30 seconds ea). There's still time to transform your body - get stronger!

- Prioritize sleep. Aim for 8 hours. Allow your body to repair, regrow and replenish.

Thank you for your support, and as always—Go Falcons!
