CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 8th GRADE QUAKERS WINNING THE COUNTY LAST NIGHT!!
It came down to the wire on Monday as PCMS Quakers 8 grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 10-9, over Avon Orioles Middle School. The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the eighth when Nolan Steele doubled, scoring one run.
Both teams had their chances in the game, but eventually PCMS Quakers 8 took the lead thanks to a double in the eighth inning.
PCMS Quakers 8 were the first to get on the board in the first when a steal of home scored one run.
Avon Orioles Middle School captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third after Cam Bryant doubled to left field, and Ivan Mason walked, each scoring one run.
PCMS Quakers 8 took the lead in the bottom of the third. Carson Rose, #17 singled, scoring two runs, to give PCMS Quakers 8 the leg up, 3-2.
Avon Orioles Middle School took the lead in the top of the fourth. Collin Speas singled, scoring two runs, to give Avon Orioles Middle School the advantage, 4-3.
Avon Orioles Middle School committed an error, which helped PCMS Quakers 8 tie the game at four in the bottom of the fourth.
Avon Orioles Middle School took the lead in the top of the fifth. Gavin Frownfelter singled, scoring one run, to give Avon Orioles Middle School the upper hand, 5-4.
Avon Orioles Middle School scored two runs in the top of the sixth on a home run to left field by Bryant.
PCMS Quakers 8 tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a ground out by Jeff Edelen, #33, and a home run to left field by Ashton Reeder.
Avon Orioles Middle School jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Max Swern grounded out, and Helpingstein walked, each scoring one run.
PCMS Quakers 8 tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a double by Sam Jackson, #34, and an error.
Eli Smith, #29 earned the win for PCMS Quakers 8. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Mason took the loss for Avon Orioles Middle School. The reliever went one and one-third innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking none. Rose, #17 led things off on the bump for PCMS Quakers 8. The hurler gave up four hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking six. Bryant started on the mound for Avon Orioles Middle School. The hurler allowed nine hits and seven runs (six earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Edelen, #33 and Steven Pate, #25 each appeared in relief for PCMS Quakers 8.

Bryant provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Avon Orioles Middle School with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
