The Avonworth Community Park Basketball Skills Competition has been rescheudled and returns on Thursday, June 18 from 5:00–6:30 PM with all the challenges, music, snacks, and medals you've been waiting for.

And this year, we're taking it to overtime...

Congrats to Little Lope Alexa Wilmus and her Slaam 2032 Binion team who came out as champions at the Ballin at Cal Tournament -- playing UP in the 7th grade division and outscoring their opponents by 22 in the semis and 12 in the final.

We love seeing our athletes out there getting better in the offseason. With summer leagues, camps and 3-on-3 tournaments coming up... and even the driveway pick-up games happening all around Avonworth neighborhoods... make sure to DM us with your photos and stories to be featured here!

Hey parents and coaches: Surveys for the travel and in-house seasons are STILL OPEN.

If you ever found yourself thinking:
"I really like how (x) was done."

Tell us! It helps us to know what's connecting.

Or if you had one of those sideline conversations with a another parent where you both said:
"I don't understand why they don't do (x)."

We want to hear that too.

We’re here for your thoughts, your feedback and your ideas... all of it. So shout out what went well... and give us a nudge on where you think we can do better.

That’s how we continue building a program that works for our kids, supports our coaches... and feels good for you as families.

It’s the offseason for Little Lopes basketball travel and in-house play…but do you know what’s always “in season?”

Working on your game.

Here are four ways you can do that between now and next season:

🏀 Evaluate yourself from this past season.
What do you think you did well? Where can you grow… not just as a player... but as a teammate, too?

🏀 Don’t underestimate working on the basics.
Everyone likes to have a little fun practicing half court and trick shots… but don’t forget the little things.

Dribbling. Defensive slides. Shot form --- All things you can work on in your driveway!

🏀 Attend a camp.
Our JV/Varsity girls are hosting one this July (info in comments)…
and there are more throughout the area.

Grab a teammate, meet new friends... and get extra reps in.

🏀 Play the game… just for the love of it.
Pick-up games. Shooting around. Time in the driveway.
Keep a basketball in your hands and keep having fun out there!

🏀🏀WE NEED YOUR HELP LITTLE LOPES FAMILIES🏀🏀

Well, someone already helped us get this ball down ;) BUT - there's something else we're looking for some assistance on!

Over the weekend, you should have received a post-season survey... and we hope you'll take a few minutes to give your input.

As you reflect on your season as a parent/guardian or coach -- it is critical for us to get your feedback about what is working, and what's not.

While we aim to do everything we can to set up the in-house and travel seasons for success for our players, coaches and families ... we rely on you to help us evaluate areas that we may need to pay more attention to, in addition to staying the course on what went well.

In the past, feedback from surveys has led to significant changes in the way we approach our programs - so thank you in advance for your time and thought.
