Have you ever looked a buck and thought what it's NET SCORE might be?
Me either.
Buckmasters. If a deer grows it, they score it.
The Buckmaster’s Scoring System was built to better reflect the actual measurements of a whitetail rack — without forcing it into a mold it doesn’t fit 🦌
Here are 7 key ways our system stands apart:
1️⃣ No Deductions for Asymmetry or Irregular Growth
We believe every inch of antler matters. Unlike other systems, we don’t deduct for unmatched typical points or natural irregularities.
A 9-point rack isn’t downgraded to an 8 just because it doesn’t have a perfect match on both sides.
2️⃣ Four Clear Classifications for All Racks
Antlers are scored based on their structure: Perfect, Regular, Semi-Irregular, or Irregular.
These categories reflect reality — not a forced ideal — and are determined by simple math, not guesswork.
3️⃣ Minimum Scores Based on Weapon Type
We tailor our standards to the method of harvest:
• Fi****ms or Found (Pickups): 155”
• Bows (All Types): 120”
• Shed Antlers: 75” (measured as a single antler)
4️⃣ Weapon-Specific Categories
Every hunting method is respected. We have individual categories for:
✔️ Rifles
✔️ Shotguns
✔️ Pistols
✔️ Muzzleloaders
✔️ Compound Bows
✔️ Recurves
✔️ Longbows
✔️ Crossbows
✔️ Pickups (found racks)
✔️ Shed Antlers
Each is scored fairly and separately.
5️⃣ No Drying Time Required
Your buck doesn’t need to sit and lose inches. We score antlers as they are — fresh or dry.
No 60-day wait. No shrinkage penalties.
6️⃣ We Accept Velvet Antlers
Got a buck in velvet? We’ll score it — even if preserved with artificial velvet (as long as there’s photo evidence it was taken in full velvet).
7️⃣ High-Fence Bucks Can Be Entered
Entries are allowed from properties over 500+ contiguous acres, provided the deer is free-ranging within that space and meets all ethical, legal, and fair chase guidelines.
These bucks are not ranked against wild, free-range deer — but they are recognized.
👉 Bottom line: We score antlers the way nature grew them. Whether it’s velvet, non-typical, or harvested with a bow — every buck deserves to be judged on what it is, not what it should’ve been.
