Coalition of student organizations, students, staff, and faculty campaigning for Pitt to divest their endowment from all indirect holdings in the fossil fuel industry We are calling for divestment from companies listed on the “Carbon Underground 200” list [1], which entails selling these companies’ stocks and committing to never investing in them again. Our demands for the University of Pittsburgh
:
1. Immediately freeze all new investments in the 200 largest fossil fuel companies and divest and screen all direct holdings and commingled funds in the fossil fuel industry (Carbon Underground 200).
2. Board of Trustees members with conflicts of interest pertaining to fossil fuels abstain from voting on fossil fuel related matters.
3. Reinvest at least 1% of the endowment into the Pittsburgh community, focusing on disproportionately affected and minority communities within the Greater Pittsburgh area.
4. Publicly disclose all direct and indirect fossil fuel investments and collaborate with students, faculty, administration, and investment committees to ensure that the endowment is invested in a socially and economically responsible manner. Please contact us if your student organization would like to join the Fossil Free Pitt Coalition or if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We are able to meet with you personally or virtually to discuss divestment. Fossil Free Pitt Coalition members:
