Where have the years gone? Walan started at Southpaw as a kid, and now he’s off to college!

Walan is part of the Southpaw family, and he will be greatly missed. He’s not only an incredible boxer, but also a kind, confident, and genuinely wonderful person. We know he’ll go on to do great things!

We’re proud of you, Walan—best of luck in this exciting next chapter!

A man on a mission. When John T Costello III started training at Southpaw, I don’t think he ever imagined stepping into the ring — let alone going pro. On Saturday, John won his professional debut with a first-round knockout. 🥊

The journey was anything but easy. The last six weeks of full fight camp broke him a few different times (if you know, you know 😂). There was literally blood, sweat, and tears. There were moments he didn’t think he’d recover and honestly, some where his team thought the same.

Boxing is humbling. But it proves that you can accomplish anything when you put your all into it. Your heart can take you to great places.

Congratulations to John — not just for an incredible win and the courage to step through those ropes, but for every sacrifice he made to get there.

A huge shoutout to Team Southpaw! Our volunteers, training partners, and members who stuck with and pushed John every single day. The love and respect we have for each other is what makes this place special. Southpaw Strong 🥊

Our nonprofit Southpaw Strong hosted a FREE community Kids Boxing & Self-Defense class! 🥊

This free class, designed for ages 9–12, introduced basic boxing fundamentals and simple self-defense skills in a safe, non-contact, and supportive environment.
