Legacy Series: Sofia LaConcha

As Sofia LaConcha begins her senior year, we get to celebrate not only the dancer we see on stage, but the smart, creative, hardworking young woman she has become.

Meet Sofia LaConcha.
Born in Miami, Sofia began dancing at just five years old and has been part of the Expressions Academy of Dance family for the past four and a half years. Sofia attends Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School, where she studies Veterinary Assisting, while also taking college courses through St. Petersburg College. With math as her favorite subject, she hopes to attend the University of Florida and pursue a career in forensic science. Outside of dance, Sofia spent two years on the Seminole High School swim team and has worked as a lifeguard at Seminole Recreation Center for the past two years. She also has a creative side and enjoys art, baking and decorating cakes, horror movies, and shopping. Dance is something Sofia gets to share with her younger sister, Bella, who also dances at Expressions. Although they compete on different teams, they still get the special experience of watching and cheering each other on throughout the season.
This year, Sofia will also take the stage as Mrs. Stahlbaum in our production of The Nutcracker.
Sofia may be one of our quieter dancers, but she has such a sweet, easygoing personality and truly gets along with everyone. Over the years, we have loved watching her grow in confidence, step outside of her comfort zone, and develop artistically on stage. She is intelligent, creative, kind, and determined, and we are excited to see what the future holds for her. Sofia, we are so proud to celebrate you as part of our Class of 2027 Legacy Series. This is your year! We’re going to have a blast! 🩷

LEGACY SERIES: ANGELA JOHNSON

Our Legacy Series continues as we celebrate another member of the Class of 2027 — Angela Johnson!

Angela’s story began in Ocala, Florida. After her father completed his service in the U.S. Army, her family moved to Pinellas County when Angela was in fifth grade. She attended Seminole Elementary and Madeira Beach Middle School and is now beginning her senior year at Osceola Fundamental High School.

Angela’s love for performing started early. She began dancing at just four years old with ballet and tap, but dance was only the beginning. Over the years, Angela explored an incredible variety of interests, including T-ball, theater, baton twirling, martial arts, and aerial arts.

Three years ago, Angela found her way to Expressions Academy of Dance, where she continued pursuing her love of aerial arts. Angela challenges herself to learn something new each week utilizing her unique combination of strength, determination, and artistry.

One of the things we love about Angela’s journey is that it reminds us there is no single path an artist has to follow. Every experience along the way becomes part of who you are.

And Angela’s next adventure may take her from the air to the ocean!

Following graduation, she plans to attend the University of South Florida and major in **Marine Science. We are so excited to see where her curiosity, determination, and adventurous spirit take her next.

Angela, we are proud to have been part of your journey and even more excited to celebrate you throughout your senior year.

We have limited space remaining in select **TEEN Dance & Aerial Arts classes**, including Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap and Aerial Arts.

Whether your teen is looking to try something new, build confidence, improve technique, get stronger, or simply find a place where they can move, create and belong, we have a class for them.

Expressions Academy offers a 5,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility with exceptional, award-winning instructors and choreographers who are passionate about helping every dancer grow.

Legacy Series: Luke Agresta
TEN YEARS. ❤️
Ten years ago, a 7-year-old boy walked through the doors of Expressions Academy Of Dance. Today, Luke is a high school senior, college student, accomplished competitive dancer, and talented performer.
We’ve had the privilege of watching Luke grow up at Expressions Academy. We’ve seen the long curls, man-bun, buzz cut, and now his more sophisticated style. But through all the changes, one thing has remained the same: Luke’s genuine, kind, and fun-loving personality.
And of course, Luke has always kept us laughing—from playing practical jokes on instructors to leaving plastic bugs on their phones!
But what we treasure most is who Luke is to the people around him. He is the teammate who cheers for others and encourages the dancers around him. His genuine heart is a legacy far greater than any trophy.
Luke has been part of our Elite Competitive Company for many years, helping bring home numerous Top Overall awards. This past July, he added one of his biggest accomplishments yet—being crowned Mr. Believe Nationals! 🏆
He has excelled in Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theater, Ballet, and Contemporary, his favorite style. He has also brought unforgettable characters to our stage as The Nutcracker, The Scarecrow, LeFou, and Bert. And this December, he will once again take the stage as The Nutcracker! 🎄✨
Outside the studio, Luke has been homeschooled for 10 years and is now taking college courses through Southeastern University. He plans to study social sciences, become a social worker, and eventually pursue military social work.
Luke, we are so proud of the young man you have become—not just for your accomplishments, but for your heart, your humor, and the way you make those around you feel supported and valued.
Ten years of memories. Ten years of laughter. Ten years of dance. And a legacy that is just beginning.

The Legacy Series - Celebrating Una Vladic! From tiny tots to senior year… What a beautiful journey it has been. Just about three years old, Una walked into Expressions Academy Of Dance for the first time, beginning her journey in our Tiny Tots Ballet and Tap Combination Class. And now, all these years later, we find ourselves preparing to say goodbye to her as a student. It’s hard to put into words what it means to watch a dancer grow up right before your eyes. We have watched Una grow from a tiny girl in a little pink leotard into a beautiful, accomplished young woman, and an exceptional dancer. She has been a dedicated member of our Elite Competitive Dance Company for many years and has consistently demonstrated beautiful technique, artistry, and an especially strong love and talent for Classical Ballet. Throughout the years, Una has also taken on special roles in our Nutcracker performances, dancing as both Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy- memories that will always be part of her Expressions Legacy. But what makes Una truly special goes far beyond her dancing. She is kind, genuine, gracious, and easy to love, with friendships that have grown alongside her throughout her years at the studio. She is an excellent student and a member of the National Honor Society, carrying the same dedication and excellence into her academic life that she has brought to dance. There is something incredibly special about watching our dancers grow up. We see them take their first Ballet steps, perform on stage, make lifelong friendships, get their driver’s licenses, graduate high school, and begin the next chapter of their lives. It is a privilege that never gets old. Una plans to pursue a career in ophthalmology, and we have no doubt that the dedication discipline, and compassion she has developed throughout her years of dance will follow her wherever she goes. Una, it has been our honor to watch you grow. From that little three-year-old ballerina to the beautiful young woman and dancer you are today, you will always be part of the Expressions family. We are so proud of you, Una. Dance may have been where your journey began, but your story is only just beginning. 🫶🏼❤️
