This is conservation. What do I mean? This is not a “huge Tom lion” the is a big ole dry female (dry meaning no kittens). However, She was in really rough shape, missing half her tail, and skinny as could be. A “bag of bones” as Ben described. She was eating on a carcass around a ton of wolf sign when we cut her tracks. What do I think happened? I think she was making kills and the wolf pack was quick to over take them, studies have shown this happening in the past. Not sure how long she would have made it but our hunter decided he’d put his tag on her. A wonderful creature nonetheless and any lion taken is a trophy. She wasn’t small by any means, just skinny and hurting. Sometimes it’s not about the biggest thing you can take home but helping do your part in conservation.
