While I was sitting in the hot tub and hanging with friends at our cabin, this guy was taking it to the Big Bear course not once, not twice, but three times in one weekend, covering 22.5 miles, over 8500 of elevation gain, and 75 (!) obstacles. He's become a Spartan Beast (literally and figuratively) and I couldn't be prouder. I've got big plans for him this summer and fall as he goes for SIX trifectas, two more marathons, and an ultra marathon. Just try and keep up... he'll just keep moving away from you.

Because that's what Age Groupers do.

Athlete spotlight week at Age Grouper Fitness continues!

"A" Race: California International Marathon

I've been coaching Jordan since late-September when running to him was just a necessary evil to get from one obstacle to the next and the thought of running 26.2 miles was a joke. Since then he has become a powerhouse, does every mile of his training, hits the gym, climbs like a beast and now has ultrarunning in his sights.

His goal was just to get across the finish line at but we quickly realized that participant medals aren't enough for him. He blew by my half marathon PR and I'm not sure I'll ever catch him again! Do I hear a BQ bell ringing at CIM in December?

He recently made the move from open heats to Age Group heats in races and it's hard to tell if he's faster because of his running or his obstacle efficiency. Being the multi-sport threat that he is is going to make getting revenge on the Tahoe Beast a walk in the park.

I enjoy coaching Jordan but I also take joy in the friendship we've created. Whether it's hikes, ballgames, racing, climbing, or hitting national parks together, I'm proud to call him my athlete and friend. Having supportive people around you that you thoroughly enjoy coaching and being coached by is paramount.

Because that's what Age Groupers do.

"A" Race: San Francisco 50 mile Endurance Run

I've been coaching Michele since mid-October and she is the perfect combination of drive, potential, and humility, making her incredibly coachable.

Her initial goal was to finish sub-4 at in December 2021, which she did while battling nerves and a blister that needed it's own zip code from Mile 15 to the finish. She went on to a 23 minute improvement at the just 3 1/2 months later and missed a BQ time by just one minute!

She signed up for the American River 25 as a "training run" last weekend and ended up on the podium, finishing as the 2nd female and 7th overall!

She'll be toeing the line in SF for her first 50 mile race in May and I can't wait to see her cross that finish line. If I could only get her to slow down on her weekend long runs a bit ;-) but I love that she goes out and commits to the end of every workout, even while getting lost or dealing with water fountain malfunctions.

Because that's what Age Groupers do.

When you have amazing athletes like and , coaching is not a job - it's a journey filled with love, admiration, inspiration, and pride and I LOVE it! These two did their thing this weekend at and and I can't wait to be by their sides during the many more accomplishments to come.

I love it when my clients have confidence. has been crushing workouts and is going to beat the Sacramento course into submission today and tomorrow! Watch out for the cow pasture holes and pitch that perfect game, buddy. Because that's what Age Groupers do.
