Why Is the Red Sea Called the Red Sea?🤔
Despite the name, the Red Sea is usually a remarkable deep blue! One theory says the name comes from seasonal blooms of certain red algae, which can sometimes give the water a reddish-brown tint. But this is debated.😅
What isn’t debatable is the diving. 💥 With spectacular coral reefs, warm water, excellent visibility, wrecks, and incredible marine life, the Red Sea is one of our favorite dive destinations.🌏️
That’s why we head back to the Egyptian Red Sea every 2-3 years with our divers.🇪🇬 👌 😁

Our Best Ocean Ambassadors 😊 🦭
For many entry-level divers, San Carlos is their first real introduction to the ocean—and few creatures say welcome quite like our sea lions. Around San Pedro Nolasco Island, their curiosity often brings them right up to divers, swimming through bubbles, twisting effortlessly around us, and occasionally stopping for a good look.😅
That first ocean dive can feel intimidating. Then a sea lion appears, and suddenly nervousness turns into excitement.😎
For a new diver, an encounter like this can turn a first ocean dive into something they’ll never forget. 😁
We couldn’t ask for better ambassadors🔥

At what point did you realize you were addicted to diving?🤔
Was it when you started planning vacations around dive sites instead of hotels? 🌊
When one wetsuit somehow became four?😂
When you realized your dive computer costs more than your phone? 😅
Or maybe it was the first time you surfaced from an incredible dive and immediately thought: “When can we go again?”🔥 🔥 🔥

One of the coolest things you discover as a new diver is that sometimes you need to stop looking for the big stuff.😅
Whip corals might look like simple branches stretching out from the reef, but take a closer look! They can be tiny underwater neighborhoods. You might find whip coral shrimp, gobies, crabs, snails, and other perfectly camouflaged creatures living on and around them.🔥
At first, you can swim right past without noticing anything. Then someone points out that first tiny shrimp or goby—and suddenly you start checking every whip coral you see. 👀
That’s part of becoming a diver: the more you learn to look, the more the reef reveals. 😊

Could YOU become a dive professional?🤔
For many divers, it starts with a simple thought: I wish I could do more of this.😅
Becoming a Divemaster or Instructor is about turning your passion into something you can share—helping a nervous new diver take their first breaths underwater, guiding others through incredible experiences, and becoming part of a worldwide community of dive professionals.🔥
At Cactus to Coral, we can help you take that next step, from recreational diver to dive leader and beyond.😎
Your diving journey doesn’t have to end with your next certification. Maybe it’s just beginning. 🌊

Your First 10 Dives Matter 🤿
Getting certified is just the beginning. Those first dives after your Open Water course are where everything starts to click.😎
Buoyancy becomes more natural. Your breathing slows down. Equalizing gets easier. You start paying less attention to your equipment and more attention to the incredible world around you.🔥
The secret? Keep diving.✅️
Don’t wait six months after certification to get back in the water. Build experience while your skills are fresh, try different environments, and dive with people you can learn from.🤓
Every confident diver was once a beginner.🙂
Your certification opened the door. Now go explore. 🌊🐠

Tiny Fish. Big Personality. 🐠
Clownfish (also called anmeonefish) might be some of the most recognizable fish on the reef—but there’s a lot more variety than the classic orange-and-white version most people picture.🙂
Different species come in striking combinations of orange, red, yellow, black and white, each with their own patterns and personalities. And of course, they’re rarely far from their anemone home. 🌊

That relationship is one of the coolest partnerships on the reef: the anemone provides protection, while the clownfish helps defend, clean and even nourish its host.😎

Swipe through and meet a few different members of the clownfish family.😁
