Last year, on his first of high school, I shared that Euan told me he had 720 days of school left!
Well… we’re now at 900 days. 😂
Freshman year: Part Two.
Sometimes, the best-laid plans just don’t go according to plan.
Finding the right school fit for Euan has always been a challenge. He falls into that incredibly frustrating middle ground. Not quite the right fit for some specialized schools because his academic profile doesn’t meet their criteria, while other specialized programs aren’t the right fit because he’s considered “too high functioning.”
And when your child doesn’t fit neatly into a box, finding the right place can feel exhausting. There have definitely been moments when we’ve wondered, “Where do we go from here?”
But somehow, you keep searching. You keep asking questions. You keep advocating. And eventually, you find a door that opens.
Thankfully, we’ve found a school that feels like a really good fit, and we’re incredibly hopeful that this is going to be a great year for him.
So, if you’re a parent who feels like you’re scrambling right now, trying to figure out school, services, support, or what comes next…..keep going.
It may not look anything like the plan you had.
It may take longer than you expected.
And you may have to start freshman year all over again. 😉
But there is always another possibility, another path, another solution.
Sometimes you just have to find it.
Here we go… freshman year, part two. ❤️
