Top Gun National 2026

Last week Top Gun National 16u-Burt played in the 18u Louisville Bracket of the Louisville Slugger IDT in Colorado. There were a total of 32 teams from across the country. We came away with a 8-2-1 record and brought home the 3rd place trophy! The girls played fantastic all week long! I’m extremely proud of them!

It was a crazy week in Scenic. We’ve done a bit of all of it. We had ridiculously massive milkshakes...we’ve had 4 hours worth of car trouble...we went and ate 46 times...Briley got her a grand slam...and Coach Phelps even caught him some zzz’s under a shade tree! On top of it all we go 6-1 against some great competition and dominate Super Pool D! With most important playing in front of 30+ Division 1 coaches...I love this life, I love these kids, I love these people! This is what we do...we chase dreams...at the highest level possible...with great people surrounding us! Next stop Colorado baby!!!

Rolling into Saturday 4-0 after another dominating team effort at the Scenic City Power Pools! Payton Brown has hit the long ball! And the hits just keep coming! It’s contagious this weekend! Super proud of our girls! Go back to work tomorrow morning at 9:30am EST. Stay tuned!

After a long highschool break...Travel season 2024 kicked off with a bang last week in Shawnee, Kansas. We entered the Top Gun Invitational without two key players bc of the KHSAA Softball Tournament. The competition was tough. Such a great tournament and electric atmosphere with over 125 college programs in attendance. We went 2-3-1 on the week, lost a few leads, and learned some hard lessons along the way. But we fought. And we grew. And our ladies got to showcase their skills in front of 43 top notch programs! Recruiting season is in full swing!

Some weekend highlights include:

-Parker Willoughby batting .615 with 5 doubles

-Shelby Bennett hitting .545 and playing amazing defense in CF

-Sophia Cain with a 235 foot two run bomb and leading the team in RBI’s

Macey is capable of playing multiple positions and brings great speed to our already potent lineup. What impressed me most about Macey beyond her incredible athleticism was how fast she could attain and process information on the fly...you can tell she’s a student of the game! Top Gun National 16u-Burt Christmas Party was a huge success! The girls had fun and the parents got a chance to hang out...been tough not seeing everybody the last month for break! Now the girls start preparing for their upcoming highschool seasons and we look forward to seeing what all they can accomplish! A huge thank you to Kyle and Jaclyn Kirby for spending their time and money to put on such a wonderful event for everyone to get together!

So this past weekend at Show Me The Money the TGN girls had to go to war without our star 1st baseman Briley Henry! And we certainly missed having her...Bdawg is a huge part of our TG Family and her leadership can not be replaced!

That being said, she only missed because she had received a personal invite to the Top Gun Events Top 50 Prospect Camp! It was an honor that she couldn’t pass up and needed to attend for recruitment purposes! Briley said she had an amazing time and got to show her skills off in front of coaches from all over the Midwest! From what I’m hearing already Briley made quite the impression and we can’t wait to see what else her future holds! Thank you Top Gun Events for putting on the camp and selecting her as a Power 50 Prospect!

So again on Sunday morning...Pdub sends one for a ride over the right field fence to lead off the game for us in the bottom of the 1st!

I generally don’t do this on homerun posts...but I think this speaks for itself.

In 69 plate appearances, kid struck out twice.

This kid practices hitting everyday. Rain or shine. 7 days a week.

I think it’s paying off.
