With the recent success of Eagles 2nd rd draft pick Jalen Hurts vs the number 1 defense in the NFL, a lot of fans and critics are starting to wonder if their original starting quarterback Carson Wentz who recently had a BIG day, is nothing but an average QB or just having a bad year. We decided to take a deeper look.
According to Wikipedia, The average NFL players career is apprx. 3.3 years which would make Carson Wentz almost 2 years past that point. Before we write that off, lets take into consideration how much time Wentz has missed due to injury and it puts us around the 2.7 year mark of his career. Which based on his performance of late, that would have him rite on schedule.
Speaking of performance, The league average QB rating for 2017 was 88.6. Wentz career average QB rating is 89.2 with his career low being 72.8 which is his current rating for the 2020 season. His previous career low was 79.3 recorded in his rookie season.
With all this being said, is the Qb who was once the face of the organization just having a bad season or is he just................ average? Coming from a division 1AA college, could the Eagles QB have been over hyped coming out of college and the NFL game be a bit too much for him mentally? The NFL isn't a league where you stray away from the game plan and play calling whilst maintaining success. These are the type reports we've heard over recent years about Carson. Or do we just look at the numbers and ignore the wins vs losses with Carson being the starter and just say hey, the guys having a bad season and he will rebound next season.
If Jalen continues with his recent success (which he will), unfortunately for Eagles fans, Wentz will be in another uniform b4 we find out if we made a mistake or was Carson Wentz just another version of Bobby Hoying, Koy Detmer, A.J. Feeley, Kevin Kolb, and most recently Nick Foles, ya know, just an average guy with good looks having a streak of good luck at the rite time. However this plays out
