👋🏻 Bre here! I wanted to share a video of Nicholas Schafer receiving his 8th degree black belt from his instructor in Texas today. For the entirety of our relationship, I have never seen a belt presented and tied on him (we have been together for 24 years!) and if you hear his words at the end, I believe he said it hasn’t happened since he was a second degree black belt which would have been 30 years ago. I am so incredibly thankful for the ATA family and for his village. When it came time for him to select a new instructor, it was of the upmost importance to select someone who shows the same level of involvement in ATA as he had. Someone who was building a legacy and offered genuine friendship and knowledge in their craft. While there were several to choose from, I believe he found the perfect one. Thank you Grand Master Sustaire for taking him in.

We wanted to take a moment to share these fundraisers to honor and support the family of ATA school owner Brent Rosenkranz, who perished while hiking in the Grand Canyon this week. He was with other ATA members, John Giusti who also perished and Timothy Smith who remains missing at this time. Our hearts break for these families as they endure the pain of losing and missing their loved ones.

On Wednesday, SM Schafer will travel to Texas to help run classes at one of their schools and offering support in anyway he can. We are all one family after all.

Today begins our NEW class schedule! It’s similar to our one before summer with a few tweaks. Instead of just one Open Sparring class for Advanced students on Wednesdays, we added one on Tuesdays as well. Classes are up on the Spark app for you to sign up ahead of time. Make sure you check in for class when you get here so you get credit for the new testing cycle!
