There are no words to fully describe what this week has meant.
Today, our journey at the Diamond Youth Baseball World Series came to an end with a tough loss to Louisiana. It hurts. There’s no way around that. These boys wanted it so badly, and every player, coach, and family poured their hearts into this tournament.
But when the disappointment fades, I hope these boys remember something much bigger than the final score.
They earned the right to wear GEORGIA across their chest.
Out of every 8U team in our state, they were the ones who fought their way to the top and represented Georgia on one of the biggest stages these young players can experience. That is something no loss can ever take away.
This week wasn’t just about baseball. It was about making lifelong memories, forming friendships with teams from across the country, laughing in hotel hallways, cheering each other on, riding the highs of big wins, learning through tough losses, and experiencing something many kids only dream about.
To our players—you played with heart. You showed grit, determination, resilience, and sportsmanship. You never quit. You represented your families, your community, and the entire state of Georgia with pride. We could not be more proud of each and every one of you.
To our coaches—thank you for the countless hours, the patience, the encouragement, and for believing in these boys every step of the way.
To our families, sponsors, and everyone who supported us from home or traveled to cheer us on—thank you. Every message, every prayer, every cheer from the stands and every livestream view meant more than you’ll ever know.
The World Series may be over for us, but this team will forever be remembered as the boys who became Georgia State Champions and proudly represented our state on the national stage.
Sometimes being a champion isn’t defined by the trophy you bring home. It’s defined by the character you show, the memories you make, and the hearts you touch along the way.
We’re heading home without the ending we hoped for, but we’re heading home with our heads held high.
