QUESTION FOR MY XC FRIENDS: how many of you skate ski? I’ve only done Classic, but would like to try skate (if we get more snow, that is!). If you do, what advice do you have for me getting started? Thanks!

Skate and classic tracks set. Only have a couple of days. Get out tomorrow and Tuesday to enjoy.

My experiment with the fat tire bike laying down preliminary tracks worked “ok”….it was still a hard slog through the snow and I didn’t keep as straight a line as I would have liked. But I still got a good workout! I’m anxious to try the Donovan tracks next.

Pretty decent classic tracks around donovan. Thin in some spots but pretty fast in about 85%.

I have a vacant cemetary lot next to my house that i can make a 1/3 mile rectangular loop on…but cutting my own tracks for the first time is always a slog. So….i borrowed a fat tire and plan to see if it will cut/compress the first track for me. I’ll let you all know how it goes!

Plenty of slow all around. Be mindful of hunting season closures at certain parks.
Get out and make tracks.
Post up if you’ve found a recent track we all can enjoy.

Spoiler alert: It’s snowing and snow will continue to fall through Monday morning. Roadways will be treacherous to travel on and will only continue to get worse as the snow and ice move through our central and southern regions.

Unfortunately it looks like the storm may be slipping further south than planned. Might still be some skiing but you'll have to drive to get there
