Control, Heart, and Hustle Define Scarlett’s Weekend Standout Performance 📰❤️🥎
COLLINS PARK — True utility players change the dynamic of a game, and that is exactly what Scarlett ( #23) did this past weekend. Watching from behind the backstop, you couldn't help but marvel at the sheer grit, focus, and heart this kid poured into every single inning.
Faced with an absolute gauntlet of a schedule, Scarlett stepped onto the rubber for 7.1 tough innings across three games against some of the toughest teams around: Hotshots National 2k13 O'Neal, 12U Bombers Gold HTX Amaro, and Texas Bombers Gold 12U. Proving she is the ultimate high-pressure teammate, she came out of the dugout in the bottom of the 3rd inning to relieve a struggling fellow pitcher. With two runners on base and the opposing team already up by two, Scarlett completely slammed the door shut, keeping her composure and preventing them from scoring another single run. Though we ended that tough battle losing 3 to 1, Scarlett’s ice-in-the-veins relief performance kept us within striking distance and completely froze their offense.
Overall, Scarlett put on a clinic in pure efficiency. Her stellar 1.636 ERA tells part of the story, but her absolute composure on the mound tells the rest. She attacked the zone with total confidence, painting a 70.27% first-pitch strike rate that completely threw opposing hitters off balance. Working seamlessly with her rock-star catcher, Elisa ( #6), who framed beautiful pitches and locked down the game behind the plate, Scarlett showcased elite command—and a whole lot of backbone—striking out 5 batters while yielding just a single walk all tournament.
Defensively, #23 was the ultimate safety net for her teammates, anchoring the field with a rock-solid .929 fielding percentage over 14 total chances.
While the box score showed a quiet .111 batting average, her offensive impact was measured in pure heart and unselfish play. Scarlett battled through deep, grueling counts, turning in a 57.14% Quality At-Bat rate. By refusing to chase bad pitches, she drew 4 critical walks to finish with a stellar .384 On-Base Percentage, proving she will do whatever it takes to get on base for her team.
The Verdict: Scarlett didn't just play hard this weekend; she led with poise from every single position she occupied against elite competition. Proud doesn't even begin to cover it.
Up Next: There is no rest for the dedicated! Scarlett is already looking forward to keeping the momentum going as she travels to Galveston, TX this Memorial Day holiday weekend to pick up and guest-play for a friend. Good luck down on the island, sweet girl—keep shining! 🥹✨🌴
