Something I just heard struck a nerve.

Fat shaming.

Ok. Our society, our world (wether we like it or not), is a judging society and world. We call people out on their s**t. Either to their face or on social media.

If you feel shame because someone has addressed your weight, the feeling of shame is internal. You feel that.

I'm a big son of a bitch. When people look at me, lots of thoughts come through their mind. Just a few are, "STEROIDS"..."God, he's probably a real asshole"..."I pick things up, I put things down, dee de dee"

I'm big, I'm nice (unless you're a dick and then I will reciprocate those sentiments), I'm smart, and I like to make myself stronger.

People are gonna judge. People will talk s**t.

But hear this...

F**K. THAT. S**T

Your physical appearance does not dictate the person you are. It does not directly represent your inner "goodness".

Be proud of the person you are. If you're not. Fix it.

Don't know how? Ask someone.

They can't give you an answer? Ask someone else.

Knock on every damn door you need to, to get help.

Let's eliminate this society of victims and build a society of champions. Wether you are a champion for yourself, or a champion for your kids, or your family.

Be. BETTER.

Kelly Starrett calls this the 10minute challenge. Try to position yourself like this everyday until you are able to completely hold it for 10 minutes straight.

My son positions himself like this when he plays with his trains all the time.

Why can't we still do this as young adults and adults?

It stopped becoming a priority to be in this position. It stopped becoming a priority to mobile and functional.

Why?

It doesn't matter why. What matters is we have the ability to fix it.

Will you?

Ok, so I am searching the internet, searching for more knowledge on how to improve my squat and I come across something that says; “Barbell Squat: the Worst Exercise in Existence”….

I had to read…

I will give the link to people if you message me, but I will not support an idiot such as this to the public.

There are multiple points that he brings up and I am going to give my rebuttal to them. Not to defend the squat to this hack. Simply to make sure that if there are more of these ignorant individuals out there, which there are, you have scientific knowledge to back up your confidence in addressing them for the ignorant person they are.

The first…
- “Loading the top of the spine — which in many respects is a pyramid — with a 200, 250, 300, 350, 400+ … pound bar, and then moving that bar up and down a few feet, does not seem especially wise in and of itself.”

So! The people that are loading the 45 pound bar with this much weight are experienced lifters and are not usually loading the weight at the top of the spine, which is where you cervical spine is. That amount of weight on your c-spine could potentially break your neck. So he’s correct in this statement. Where he is not correct is in assuming that loading the spine with weight is bad. The spine is our support system, and we are not meant to walk around like slobs. We are meant to walk up right, with our head in a neutral position, and our feet straight ahead. Not slumped over, with our head down, walking like a duck. When we force our bodies to perform these basic functions under load, we are strengthening the core muscles that allow us to perform these functions efficiently.

Second…
- “The primary muscles that most squatters intend to work, are the muscles of the legs, which are huge muscles, surrounding huge bones, supported and surrounded by comparatively huge joints.”

The people that are performing a squat are intending to hit legs, back, abdominal muscles, hip flexors, and a few other muscles. The muscles of the leg are moderately large and are not the biggest muscles in the body by any means. The largest muscle in the body is the latisimus dorsi. This is a back muscle on each side of your body. This muscle helps to support your spine. Squats make this muscle work. In order to make a muscle work, you must put it under tension and time. With the lats, and other back muscles, working to stabilize your spine; they become stronger under weight.

Third…
- The barbell squat is absolutely self-defeating. Why? Because success in a barbell squat means primarily, stronger legs. Stronger and stronger legs will need more and more resistance.”…. “The stronger you get, and the more success you have performing a barbell squat, the more ineffective and dangerous the exercise becomes. The risk of injury not only increases, but so does the actual effect of a potential injury.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Now that I have gotten that out of my system.

Stronger and stronger legs will definitely need more resistance in order to continue growth. Truth.

“The more success you have at performing a barbell squat, the more ineffective and dangerous the exercise becomes”

WHAT?! So basically what this du***ss is saying is that when you are doing this correctly you are hurting yourself. WRONG. When you do this incorrectly, you are hurting yourself. The squat is a whole body movement. It requires strength in all areas to become successful in it. Period. If you are not strong in one area of it, you will see it immediately and you will be made aware of it by your coach or trainer.

As for the last part of this quote…Potential injury? The only injury that matters is the one that you are experiencing, because you did something wrong. If you do the squat correctly, you will not be injured, you will actually be taking a proactive role in preventing injuries in other parts of your body….SUCH AS YOUR BACK.

PLEASE. Do not allow people like this to tell you that the barbell squat is a bad movement. These people are ignorant to the benefits of the movement. When you are able to perform better in everyday life because of this movement, you will thank me. Do NOT listen to this hack or anyone of his kind.

What a du***ss…

This ones for all of our bikers out there. We see a lot of jacked up positions some of you put yourselves in, and we're hoping this will help.

In the picture on the left, we see the rider has stuck their butt out and is hugging the tank with their abdomen. Their spine is taking on a position that does not allow for proper support of their body, and their head now has tilted back which will call stress to the cervical portion and some thoracic. However, there is a lot of stress on the lumbar region of the spine and in turn puts a lot of stress on the sacral portion as well, which affects the hips. Riding in this position, repeatedly, can cause some serious issues such as sciatica. Sciatica is a neural issue that affects bundle of nerves near your lumbar region. It causes constant pain and limits range of motion because of this pain.

The rider on the right has a straight back and is sitting with their head in a neutral position. This position gives proper support to the frame and does not create any unnecessary stress on the neck or spine.

Some of you may be thinking, "sitting like this is gonna mess me up if I try to get it on some open road".

Follow me on this.

Imagine there is a box attached to the abdomen. This box does not get smaller or larger. So if we can position our bodies like we would with this "box", we can keep our spine stable while we hug the tank, getting it on the open road.
