Most fans don’t want universities buying rosters or turning college sports into an NFL developmental league where athletes are constantly chasing the next paycheck. Team loyalty, school pride, and long-term commitment are becoming harder to find when players can freely shop for the highest offer every year.

Athletes absolutely deserve opportunities to benefit from their name, image, and likeness, but the current system has swung too far toward a free-for-all. NIL and the transfer portal need reasonable guardrails that protect both athlete rights and the integrity of college athletics.

This isn’t just a football issue anymore—it’s impacting programs across the board.

There may not be an easy fix, but the NCAA, decison makers and lawmakers need to find a middle ground soon. Because if college sports become nothing more than schools sponsoring professional teams, everyone loses including fans!
