Although practicing throwing techniques on a large bull should probably be discouraged (and would it really count as solo training anyway? ;) ), good solo training is absolutely essential to development as a martial artist.

It should be noted, however, that "good" solo training does not only involve the practice of "techniques", but it must also include endurance training, strength training, meditation, literary studies, language studies, art, music, dance, history, geography, ecology, meteorology, and so on. After all, skillful application of "ganseki nage" (for example) is really only a very small part of this warrior path... ;)
